For Feera’s Sake
After being taken to a beautiful room, decorated with colorful flowers and fine rugs, Narim handed
her a set of clothes: brown linen pants, a green tunic, and a golden sash to tie around her waist.
“Please wear these clothes tomorrow and do not leave the room until further notice.”
Abril hated being restricted in where she could go, and she asked, slightly annoyed, “Am I your
prisoner?”
“You are our guest, but the queen does not like humans wandering freely around her palace. I hope you understand.”
“Alright, I won’t leave.”
After Narim left the room, Abril went to the balcony The sun had already completely set, but the
sky shone with great beauty. The stars there seemed much closer and shone more intensely; the
sky displayed hues of dark blue, purple, and light pink, looking like the image of a beautiful painting,
an image that couldn’t be real and only existed in the painter’s mind.
The fairy lands were so enchanting that Abril momentarily wondered if they were real. She looked
into the distance, nothing was visible, but she could feel a strange force filled with hatred and pure evil emanating from that place. That must be where the army her siblings were leading was
located. Suddenly, a question invaded her mind.
If her father had died, why were her siblings still fighting to obtain the key to the gate of Hades?
Abril sighed; she didn’t know what her siblings were thinking, and it was useless to try to find out. She returned inside the room, slipped out of the uncomfortable dress she was wearing, leaving her in a light white nightgown. Since arriving in the fairy land, she had felt suffocated by the thick winter clothes she had been wearing, as the climate there was much warmer than in the kingdom
of Cosset.
The bed was soft and pleasant, the sweet aroma of the flowers filled the room, making her feel drowsy, and she soon fell asleep. That night, Abril once again dreamed of a girl, a beautiful baby she cradled in her arms. The next morning, upon remembering her dream, she wondered if those dreams represented her longing to have a child with Alessandro.
Narim knocked on the door and said, “Good morning, are you awake?”
Abril got out of bed and replied, “Yes, come in.”
Narim carried a jug of water, poured it into a bowl near the table, and said, “I brought water for you to wash.”
Another fairy entered shortly after, with green skin and brown hair, carrying a tray with fruits, cookies, bread, jam, and what appeared to be orange juice.

“And here is your breakfast.”
Another fairy with brown skin, purple eyes, and purple hair entered shortly after with a large jug. heading to the room next door. Abril wondered what that fairy was carrying. Narim seemed to read her expression and answered her question, “They are preparing the bath for you right now. Would
you like to take your bath before breakfast?”
Abril was very hungry since she hadn’t had dinner the previous day, so she shook her head and replied, “I’d prefer to have breakfast first.”
The pink–haired fairy arranged everything on the tray on a table by the window. After washing her face, Abril ate breakfast until she was satisfied. Then she went to the bathroom, where the fairies helped her with the bath and her clothes, even though she insisted it wasn’t necessary.
Abril loved the fairies‘ clothes; they were light and comfortable. The fairies had braided her hair with golden thread, which she appreciated as it kept her hair away from her face. When they finished, Narim said, “Please accompany me.”
Upon leaving, Abril saw they weren’t heading to Maya’s room, so she asked, “Where are you taking
me?”
“The queen requires your presence.”
At that moment, Abril understood why they had taken care to make her look beautiful. “What about
the others? Have they been summoned by the queen as well?”
“Yes, they should already be there.”
Abril felt a little more at ease knowing she was going to reunite with the others.
Upon arriving at the throne room, Abril noticed the queen wore clothes similar to hers and had her hair braided with the same golden thread, adorned with pearls. The queen stood up upon seeing
Abril. Fay, standing beside her, handed her a sword, one of the weapons Abril had blessed the
previous day, recognizable by its slight glow. The queen began to speak.
“You have you done well. The weapons you blessed were effective against the monsters born of
darkness”
“Now that you’ve confirmed my work, may we leave?”
“No, I require your assistance on the battlefield.”
“That was not our agreement.”
“I never stated that I only wanted you to bless my weapons; I requested your help without specifying the purpose.”
Ethan interjected, saying.

“Your majesty, she is not a warrior. We will assist in your war, and she can return to the human realm.”
“I won’t deny that your help is important, but I prefer the help of the one who defeated King Venobich and his army of monsters.”
Ethan glared at Fay with hatred and resentment, but Fay ignored the gaze as if it was not directed at him.
The fairy queen addressed Abril.
“I desire you to fight alongside me on the battlefield”
“Is refusal an option?”
“Refusal is not an option.”
“No, she shall not be on the battlefield.”
Cassian shouted, opposing the fairy queen.
Abril knew she couldn’t continue refusing the fairy queen’s wishes, as it would ultimately be futile. The day before, the queen had pressured her quite a bit, and if she continued doing so, it would have the opposite effect.
“Very well, I shall participate in this war.”
Cassian opposed again.
“Abril, you must not do this; you promised Alessandro you would not act recklessly.”
“And I have no intention of doing so.”
Abril addressed the fairy queen.
“I will accompany you to the battlefield, but I shall not be on the front line; I will serve as a healer, attending to the wounded. If that’s not acceptable, then I won’t go.”
The queen consented to Abril’s terms.
“Alright.”
The queen began to move her hand and said,
“Then let us proceed; there is no time to lose.”
A blinding light enveloped them, and upon opening their eyes, they found the scenery completely transformed. They had departed from the beautiful palace to find themselves in a tent made of
linen fabric. Dantriel asked.
“Where have we arrived?”

The queen opened the tent, and outside there were more tents like that one, with soldiers walking
back and forth carrying weapons and moving boxes.
“We have arrived at the battlefield.”
Everyone exited the tent, and the queen said to them.
“Follow me.”
They followed her to the edge of the camp, where in the distance they could see the enemy army. Abril shuddered at the feeling of all the evil and darkness in that place, and the queen said to her.
“I have been using my magic to contain them, but my barrier is breaking; it will only withstand one last attack and then shatter into thousands of pieces.”
Abril could see how the fairy queen’s army took their place on the battlefield, and everyone joining
the ranks carried weapons with the blessing of light.
“This war is about to begin.”
The queen looked at Cassian and said to him.
“Try to stay away from the battlefield. You have carried the key to the gate of Hades, and your body emanates an aura similar to that of the key, attracting all the monsters to you.”
“That was why my sister did not believe you when you claimed you no longer possessed the key.”
“Yes, I had that cursed key for a long time. Its aura still lingers on me, and your sister could feel it. That’s why she didn’t believe me when I said I no longer had the key, and it started this war…”
The queen suddenly fell silent, directing her gaze to where the enemy army was, and ordered Fay.
“Give me my sword and find me a crim.”
Fay handed her the sword and ran off. Abril asked, puzzled by the queen’s sudden change of
attitude.
“What’s going on?”
“They’re preparing to attack.”
Abril wondered how the queen knew that. She directed her gaze at where the queen was looking and saw in the distance a shadowy silhouette amidst the multitude of monsters. It was slender and feminine and appeared to be holding a long staff, raised high, pointed towards her, and that army of monsters began to move swiftly, heading towards them.
Fay returned with a strange–looking green horse. The queen mounted it and headed to the front of her army, unsheathed her sword, raised it high, and shouted loudly.
“For Feera.”
