Part II: Enormous Power
Cassian, upon seeing that the sun was already high and it was past noon, asked Maya, “It’s late. Why didn’t you wake me up earlier?”
“You haven’t slept much these days because you’ve been taking care of me. You needed rest.”
“Are you really okay?”
“Yes, I’m completely fine, so you don’t have to worry about me anymore. Since you’re already awake, why don’t you get up and let’s eat something? Now that my stomach has stopped turning, I need a good meal.”
“Yes, I’ll get up now.”
Cassian got up. While changing, Maya said, “Abril has already left; she came to say goodbye this morning.”
“Maybe I should have accompanied her?”
“Well, there’s no use regretting what didn’t happen.”
“You’re right. We can only do what she asked us to do–take care of little Lissana while she’s away.”
“Yes. Speaking of Lissana, I brought her a present.”
“Then let’s eat something and then go see Lissana.”
“I think it’s an excellent idea.”
Both of them headed to the dining room. After eating, Cassian asked one of the servants who was there
where Lissana was.
“Princess Lissana is in His Majesty the King’s office.”
Cassian got up, extended his hand to Maya, and said, “Shall we go?”
“Sure.”
Upon arriving at Alessandro’s office, Maya was surprised to see the proud king making funny faces to
entertain his little daughter.
“Hello, Lessan.”
“Cassian, thank God you’re here. Between Abril’s departure and Lissana crying every time I turn around, I haven’t had a chance to do anything.”
Maya took Lissana in her arms and said, “Taking care of a baby is not easy. They feel lonely if you don’t pay
attention to them. If you want, I can take care of Lissana.”
“I promised Abril that I would be close to Lissana.”
“I can take care of her in the next room, so I would be close to her and continue fulfilling the promise I
made to Abril.”

Lissana started crying. Maya rocked her in her arms. Alessandro said, “I think she misses Abril. Ever since
she woke up, all she does is cry.”
“I don’t think it’s just that. I think Lissana is also hungry and needs a diaper change. I’ll take her for a
moment; I’ll be right back.”
When Maya left the room with Lissana, Cassian asked, “How can I help you?”
“I have a lot of backlog.”
Alessandro pointed to the documents on his desk and said, “Help me with that.”
“What have you been doing to accumulate so much work?”
“Well, it’s just that-”
“Never mind, just help me.”
Cassian took some documents and asked, “Do you think Abril has already arrived in the kingdom of
Laios?”
“I suppose so. Sirius promised to send me a report daily. I guess he’ll send it at the end of the day.”
“I hope everything goes well.”
“Me too. I hope they don’t have any problems and can come back soon.”
Abril spent the whole day taking care of the sick. They were all in a deplorable state. If she hadn’t helped
them, they wouldn’t have lasted more than two days.
After treating the last patient, Sirius approached her and said, “We should leave.”
“Now?”
“Yes, it’s not good to stay in this place for too long. It’s dangerous.”
“Yes, you’re right. I have treated all the villagers, so we can leave.”
“There’s a forest nearby. We’ll camp there.”
“That sounds good. Just let me do one last thing.”
“What do you plan on doing?”
“I want to purify the land; otherwise, they won’t be able to plant anything.”
“Alright, I’ll go look for Taren.”
“I’ll go to the rice fields while everyone is sleeping.”
“Yes, make sure no one sees you.”
Abril tightened her cloak and headed to the rice fields. They were all dry, the land completely ruined. Abril

wasn’t sure if she would be able to purify it, but she didn’t want to leave without trying. She knelt down, placed her hand on the ground, and infused her magic into it. The ground shook, and all the black and rotten things started to disappear. The rice fields that had been dry and dead came to life. The rice fields turned green again and were full of life.
Seeing this, Abril was amazed and happy to see that she had been able to help those people regain their
livelihood.
Sirius, seeing that the land that had been dead had come back to life, was amazed by her power and
asked her, “How did you revive all of this?”
“I told you, my power is stronger now, and my control over it has improved. You would be surprised if you
knew what I am capable of now.”
“I’m already surprised. I knew you were strong, but reviving dead land with its crops–that has left me very
surprised.”
“I am done with everything I needed to do here. We can leave now. Where is Taren? I thought you went to
look for him.”
“He shouldn’t be long.”
Taren didn’t take long to appear with three horses. They looked sickly and could barely stand.
“I managed to get our transportation.”
Abril approached, touched each of the horses, and infused her magic into them. The horses came back to life. Abril mounted one of the horses and said to them, “Let’s go. There’s nothing else to do here. Let’s
continue our journey.”
Taren and Sirius got on their horses and set off on their journey again, toward the royal capital of Laios.
