Maya felt weak and tired. That day, she hadn’t been able to get out of bed all day, even though she
had tried.
The pixie appeared before her and said,
“I told you your improvement was only temporary. You should return to the Land of Fairies now.”
“I already told you I won’t go back.”
“You’re a fool. Do you want to die?” Maya ignored the pixie.
The bedroom door opened. It was Cassian who had just entered.
He approached her, sat on the edge of the bed, and asked, “How are you feeling?”
“Much better. How is Abril?”
“She still hasn’t woken up, but she looks much better. I think she’ll wake up soon.”
“I hope so.”
Cassian took Maya’s hand. It was cold even though it was a warm day.
“Are you sure you’re alright?”
“Yes, I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.”
“If Sirius is still at the palace, I’ll ask him to examine you.”
“It’s not necessary. The doctor already said it’s just fatigue.”
Cassian leaned forward, gave her a soft kiss on the lips, and said, “Get well soon.”
“I will. I’ll be as good as new soon,” Maya replied with a smile, trying to calm the fear and sadness reflected in Cassian’s face.
“I’m sure you will.”
Maya yawned deeply. Although she had slept all night, she felt sleepy.
Cassian kissed her forehead and said, “I’m going to let you rest. I’ll be back later.”
“See you later.”
After Cassian left the room, the little fairy appeared before Maya and said, “You know you won’t recover if you don’t return to the Land of Fairies. Why do you lie to him like that?”
“Because I can, and because I don’t want to see him suffer.”
“He already is, even though you insist on telling him you’re fine. He knows it’s not true. He can see
how your life is fading little by little. You say you love him, but you hide the sath from ins and impose your will. You don’t respect his feelings
“Go away. I don’t want to hear you anymore.”
“You’re angry because you know what I’m saying is true. No matter how many lies you sell, the surth will always be there, and sooner or later it will come to light
The pixie disappeared. Maya knew she was being selfish, that she was always the same. She made the decisions she thought were right and left Cassian aside.
And she hated herself for being that way. She hated herself for being a coward
Maya fell asleep in tears, between the pain and guilt that ate away at her soul

Ethan had tried to leave Arkala several times, but he had not succeeded. The queerts guards were watching the roads closely.
After trying for the twelfth time, Ethan went to look for Dantriel. He needed his help.
He went to the knights‘ barracks. When he entered, he realized that all the knights were giving him accusing looks.
When he finally reached Dantriel’s office, the first thing he did when he saw him was ask why everyone was looking at him that way.
“Why are all the knights looking at me like they want to reproach me for something?”
“They’re upset with you because they think it’s your fault I was locked up in the dungeons.”
“It wasn’t my fault. You did something unnecessary!
“I saved your life. You should be grateful.”
“No one asked you to. Now, because of you, the queen has kidnapped Abril’s daughter.”
“Ethan, the queen would have discovered the existence of Abril and her daughter with or without my help, so let me tell you that your sacrifice wouldn’t have changed anything.”
“I want to get out of Arkala. Help me get through the barrier.”
“The queen has forbidden it. I won’t disobey her.”
“You owe me this, Dantriel.”
Ethan stared at Dantriel intently, as if the two were having a staring contest.
Dantriel was the first to look away. He sighed heavily and said, “You’re crazy, Ethan. Do you want to die that badly?”
“I don’t want to die. I just want to help Abril get her daughter back. I just want to keep the promise!
made to Sophis”
And what do you plan to do? Bring her here?”
“If necessary, I will, I’ll help her in any way I can‘
1 see you’re more than determined, so I’ll help you. But I warn you, if you’re caught, I will categorically deny having helped you.”
“Sounds good to me. Any ideas on how to get me out without anyone noticing?”
“Yes, ask Princess Kiara.”
“What?”
“She has a lover. She visits him often. It’s a secret exit that only the royal family knows about.”
“And what makes you think she’ll help me?”
“Because she never agrees with the decisions her mother makes. I’m sure this is no exception. She’s taking care of Abril’s daughter.”
“Do you think she’ll help me get the girl back if I ask her?”
“I don’t think so. Even though she doesn’t like the queen’s decisions and sometimes rebels, she won’t do anything so flashy. If she did, the queen would disinherit her, she would no longer be crown princess, something she won’t be willing to risk.”
“The guards wouldn’t let me into the palace.”
“Don’t worry about that. I’ll make sure you get in. Meet me at midnight at the west tower near the
palace.”
“Alright.”
Ethan returned home. It was almost midnight, but there was no one there. Ethan was wondering if Dantriel had regretted helping him when he emerged from the shadows and said, “Come on, follow
me.”
Ethan followed him to a high wall. He inserted something into a small hole, and the bricks in the wall began to move, creating an entrance.
“How do you know about this entrance?”
“I used to use it to visit the queen’s bedroom at night, when we were…never mind. That’s all in the past.”
Dantriel crossed first. The bricks began to move; the door was closing. He said, “Hurry up, or the door will close.”

Part II: A Forbidden Name
Ethan crossed the secret door and found himself in the north garden. Dantriel told him to get
down, as two guards were passing by at that moment.
When they had passed, he told him to follow him.
“Come on, the princess’s palace is in the north wing”
“What about you and the Queen? Is it over?”
“I don’t know.”
“I think she still likes you, otherwise we’d be dead by now.”
“She’s only let us live because I’m one of her best generals.”
“Do you really believe that lie? She has many generals, but few lovers.” “Shut up, if anyone hears you, you’ll be hanged for insulting the Queen.” “You can say whatever you want, and you threaten me with death.”
“My relationship with Her Majesty is not up for discussion.”
“You’ve always been this way, you avoid everything that has to do with love, that’s why your relationship with the Queen isn’t progressing.”
Dantriel stopped dead in his tracks, gave him a murderous look, and said, “If you don’t shut up, I’ll forget you’re my friend.”
“All right, I’ll shut up, you don’t have to get like that.”
Dantriel heard the sound of footsteps approaching and said, “Someone’s coming, we have to hide.”
They both hid behind a column.
Enora was on her way to see Kiara when she sensed a strange presence in the palace.
“Who’s there?” she said in a firm voice. “If you don’t come out immediately, you’ll regret it.”
Dantriel knew that the Queen’s words were not mere threats, so he said to Ethan, “The princess’s room is at the end of the hall, go there when it’s safe.”
“What are you going to do?”
“Create a distraction.”
Dantriel came out from behind the column and spoke in a smooth voice. “It is I, Dantriel, Your Majesty.”

Dantriel approached with his hands raised to show that he was not carrying any weapons. She asked, “What are you doing here?”
“I have come to see Your Majesty.”
To begin with, this is not my palace, nor have I summoned you, so what are you doing here?”
“I saw you pass by and I followed you.”
“That answers the first question, but not the second.”
Dantriel moved a little closer to Enora, so close that he could smell the sweet perfume she wore,
her warm breath. “I wished to see Your Majesty, but I did not know if you were still angry with me, if
I am no longer welcome in your eyes.”
Enora stared at him for a moment, then closed the distance between them and kissed him. “You are still welcome in my eyes, but I am also still angry with you.”
Dantriel put an arm around her waist and pulled her closer, closing any distance between them.
“Does that mean I can still be close to Your Majesty?”
Enora responded with a slight smile, her hand sliding over the muscles of his chest. “Yes, for now.”
Dantriel leaned in to kiss her, but Enora stopped him. “We should go somewhere else. I don’t think I’ll settle for a simple kiss.”
Enora pulled away and began to walk away. Seeing that Dantriel was not following her, she asked, “Why aren’t you following me?”
“Can I really come?”
“Isn’t that what you came for?”
“Yes,” Dantriel replied, and followed her to her chambers.
Enora began to remove her robe very slowly.
Dantriel approached her. She was so beautiful and seductive that she drove him crazy. She had always been like this; she was the only one who awakened his basest instincts.
His fingers slid slowly down her neck, his hungry lips sought hers, longing for the sweet nectar of her lips. Enora was right when she had said that a kiss was not enough, because it was not enough
for him either.
His strong, firm hands tangled in her short hair, ran down her back, and reveled in the softness of her skin. His voice, like a soft whisper, said her name.
“Enora.”
Something he was only allowed to say within those walls, in the intimacy of kisses and caresses.

Their hands roamed each other’s bodies as if they wanted to pierce each other’s skin. Their ragged breaths filled the room and spoke for them, saying what neither dared to confess for fear that they loved each other.
Ethan did as Dantriel told him and went straight to the end of the hall. There were two guards posted at the door, so he had to find a way to get in without being seen. He entered a room near Princess Kiara’s room without the guards noticing his presence.
He went out onto the balcony and looked for the balcony of Princess Kiara’s room. Luckily for him, it was close by, so he made it in one great leap.
The balcony was closed, so he had to knock on the window to get the princess’s attention.
When Kiara saw Ethan on her balcony, she hesitated for a moment whether to open up or call the guards who were stationed at the door to arrest him. In the end, she decided to open the balcony, although she kept her distance, because if he tried to attack her or take the baby, she would call the guards to arrest him immediately.
“What are you doing here?”
Ethan stared at the baby she was holding for a moment. This frightened Kiara a little. She stepped back and said, “If you don’t answer immediately, I’ll call the guards.”
“Please forgive my insolence, Princess, but I have come to ask you a favor.”
“A favor? If you think I’m going to give you the girl, let me tell you that I won’t.”
“That is not what I have come to ask.”
“Then what is it you want?”
“I need your help to cross the barrier without being noticed.”
“My mother has forbidden you to leave Akala. What makes you think I’m going to help you?”
“Because you want the same thing I do, Princess: to reunite that baby with her mother.”
“You’re bringing her here?”
“Yes,”

“Yes, I know, but she must be very worried about her daughter. I just want to help them be together

“I know, and it’s a risk I’m willing to take.”
