Ethan crossed the secret door and found himself in the north garden. Dantriel told him to get
down, as two guards were passing by at that moment.
When they had passed, he told him to follow him.
“Come on, the princess’s palace is in the north wing”
“What about you and the Queen? Is it over?”
“I don’t know.”
“I think she still likes you, otherwise we’d be dead by now.”
“She’s only let us live because I’m one of her best generals.”
“Do you really believe that lie? She has many generals, but few lovers.”
“Shut up, if anyone hears you, you’ll be hanged for insulting the Queen.”
“You can say whatever you want, and you threaten me with death.”
“My relationship with Her Majesty is not up for discussion.”
“You’ve always been this way, you avoid everything that has to do with love, that’s why your relationship with the Queen isn’t progressing.”
Dantriel stopped dead in his tracks, gave him a murderous look, and said, “If you don’t shut up, I’ll forget you’re my friend.”
“All right, I’ll shut up, you don’t have to get like that.”
Dantriel heard the sound of footsteps approaching and said, “Someone’s coming, we have to hide.”
They both hid behind a column.
Enora was on her way to see Kiara when she sensed a strange presence in the palace.
“Who’s there?” she said in a firm voice. “If you don’t come out immediately, you’ll regret it.”
Dantriel knew that the Queen’s words were not mere threats, so he said to Ethan, “The princess’s room is at the end of the hall, go there when it’s safe.”
“What are you going to do?”
“Create a distraction.”
Dantriel came out from behind the column and spoke in a smooth voice. “It is I, Dantriel, Your Majesty.”

Dantriel approached with his hands raised to show that he was not carrying any weapons. She asked, “What are you doing here?”
“I have come to see Your Majesty.”
“To begin with, this is not my palace, nor have I summoned you, so what are you doing here?”
“I saw you pass by and I followed you.”
“That answers the first question, but not the second.”
Dantriel moved a little closer to Enora, so close that he could smell the sweet perfume she wore, her warm breath. “I wished to see Your Majesty, but I did not know if you were still angry with me, if
I am no longer welcome in your eyes.”
Enora stared at him for a moment, then closed the distance between them and kissed him. are still welcome in my eyes, but I am also still angry with you.”
Dantriel put an arm around her waist and pulled her closer, closing any distance between them.
“Does that mean I can still be close to Your Majesty?”
Enora responded with a slight smile, her hand sliding over the muscles of his chest. “Yes, for now.”
Dantriel leaned in to kiss her, but Enora stopped him. “We should go somewhere else. I don’t think I’ll settle for a simple kiss.”
Enora pulled away and began to walk away. Seeing that Dantriel was not following her, she asked, “Why aren’t you following me?”
“Can I really come?”
“Isn’t that what you came for?”
“Yes,” Dantriel replied, and followed her to her chambers.
Enora began to remove her robe very slowly.
Dantriel approached her. She was so beautiful and seductive that she drove him crazy. She had always been like this; she was the only one who awakened his basest instincts.
His fingers slid slowly down her neck, his hungry lips sought hers, longing for the sweet nectar of her lips. Enora was right when she had said that a kiss was not enough, because it was not enough for him either.
His strong, firm hands tangled in her short hair, ran down her back, and reveled in the softness of her skin. His voice, like a soft whisper, said her name.
“Enora.”
Something he was only allowed to say within those walls, in the intimacy of kisses and caresses,

At that moment, when it seemed that they were the only two in the world, Dantriel had to agree with Ethan: he loved her. Even though he had tried to deny it, he was completely in love with her.
His kisses were slow and deep, soft and delicate, and although he had never told her with words,
with his kisses and caresses, with his body, he was screaming at her that he loved her and that she was the only one for him.
It didn’t take long for their clothes to fall to the floor their bodies to intertwine, to share their warmth and become one. Their hands roamed each other’s bodies as if they wanted to pierce each other’s skin. Their ragged breaths filled the room and spoke for them, saying what neither dared to confess for fear: that they loved each other.
Ethan did as Dantriel told him and went straight to the end of the hall. There were two guards posted at the door, so he had to find a way to get in without being seen. He entered a room near Princess Kiara’s room without the guards noticing his presence.
He went out onto the balcony and looked for the balcony of Princess Kiara’s room. Luckily for him, it was close by, so he made it in one great leap.
The balcony was closed, so he had to knock on the window to get the princess’s attention.
When Kiara saw Ethan on her balcony, she hesitated for a moment whether to open up or call the guards who were stationed at the door to arrest him. In the end, she decided to open the balcony, although she kept her distance, because if he tried to attack her or take the baby, she would call the guards to arrest him immediately.
“What are you doing here?”
Ethan stared at the baby she was holding for a moment. This frightened Kiara a little. She stepped back and said, “If you don’t answer immediately, I’ll call the guards.”
“Please forgive my insolence, Princess, but I have come to ask you a favor.”
“A favor? If you think I’m going to give you the girl, let me tell you that I won’t.”
“That is not what I have come to ask.”
“Then what is it you want?”
“I need your help to cross the barrier without being noticed.”
“My mother has forbidden you to leave Akala. What makes you think I’m going to help you?”
“Because you want the same thing I do, Princess: to reunite that baby with her mother.”
“You’re bringing her here?”
“Yes.”

“Yes, I know, but she must be very worried about her daughter. I just want to help them be together
again.”
“If my mother finds out you disobeyed her, I don’t think you’ll escape death this time.”
“I know, and it’s a risk I’m willing to take.”
