Cassian found Alessandro in his office. He approached, and seeing that his brother’s face didn’t reflect any weariness, he said, “It seems you finally had a good night’s sleep.

“Aby used her magic to put me to sleep.”

I’m glad she did. You looked awful, like the walking dead.”

“And I felt like one. Well, maybe I still feel like one, though you don’t look so good yourself.”

“I suppose it’s because I don’t feel very well either.

“Are you sick?!”

“No.”

Cassian wanted to share his worries with his brother, but he didn’t want to worry him, as what awaited Alessandro wasn’t easy either.

“It’s just that I’m still worried about Maya.”

“Has she gotten worse?”

“No, I just don’t like seeing her sick.”

“Are you sure that’s all it is?”

“Yes, well, you know how I am. I always worry too much.”

“Cas, I’ll be gone for a while. I wanted to . . .”

“I know, I’ll take care of everything while you’re gone.”

“I’ve asked Gabriel to help you with everything he can.”

“Good to know.”

“I’m sorry for always leaving everything to you, but you’re my brother, the person I trust the most. You’re the only one I can entrust the kingdom to.”

“I know, Lessan. And even though I’m not a prince anymore, taking care of this kingdom is also my duty. It’s what our parents taught us.”

Alessandro sighed deeply and said, “How I wish they were here.”

“I know. I also wish they were here, just like our brothers. Things would be easier if they were.”

Alessandro handed the royal seal to Cassian. “If you need help, you can delegate some work to

Gabriel and take advantage of Sirius.

“Perhaps I will.”

Cassian hugged his brother. “Take care, Lessan. Come back safe and sound, bring back my niece.”

“I will.”

“And try not to do anything stupid. Keep a cool head no matter the circumstances.”

“I know, I won’t lose my head again.”

“Good luck.”

“Thank you, Cassian. Thank you for always being there when I need you most, and I’m sorry for giving you so much trouble.”

“That’s what brothers are for, aren’t we? To support each other when we need it most.”

“When you need me, I’ll be there for you. Don’t forget that.”

“I won’t.”

“I know.”

Alessandro headed for the door. Before he left, Cassian said, “See you soon, Lessan.”

“See you soon, brother.”

When Abril arrived at the entrance, Ethan was already there. “We can leave whenever you’re ready,” he told her while signaling to one of the guards to bring the horses.

“Alessandro is still missing. We can’t leave yet.”

“So he’s decided to come after all. What a waste of time.”

“Why do you say that?”

“Because he won’t be able to enter the Elven Kingdom. Didn’t he tell you?”

“No! Why not?!”

“There’s a barrier surrounding the Elven Kingdom. The only ones who can enter are those with Elven blood.”

Alessandro appeared. When Abril saw him, the first thing she said was, “When were you planning on telling me you can’t enter the Elven Kingdom?”

“He says I can’t enter, but I won’t believe it until I see for myself.”

“And what will happen if you can’t enter?”

“If that happens, I’ll be waiting at the entrance to the kingdom”

Alessandro took Abril’s hand. “I’ll be waiting for you to return with our daughter. This time I’m not staying in the palace waiting for you to come back I’m going with you and I’ll accompany you as far as I can. I’m not letting you do this all alone, Aby

When they brought the horses, Alessandro said, “We must go, there’s no time to lose.”

“Yes,”

Alessandro helped Abril onto her horse, then he mounted behind her. Seeing that Ethan hadn’t mounted his horse yet, he asked, “What are you waiting for? We have to go.”

Ethan mounted his horse and started off. Alessandro and Abril followed him.

Upon leaving the palace, Ethan took out one of the teleportation scrolls Barto had given him that morning. “We’ll use the teleportation scroll to get to the city of Farell. The entrance to the Elven Kingdom is near there.”

After saying that, Ethan tore the scroll. A bright light surrounded them and they appeared on the outskirts of the city of Farell.

Alessandro was somewhat concerned, as Abril had been very ill a few days ago. He feared that using the scroll could be detrimental to her. “Aby, are you alright?”

“Don’t worry, I’m fine.”

Ethan continued forward. Alessandro asked, “Where’s the entrance to the Elven Kingdom?”

“We’re not using the entrance to the Elven Kingdom”

Abril asked, “Then how will we get in?”

“There’s a secret entrance in the Norton Forest that we can use to enter, although I don’t know if it’s still in the same place, as it tends to move around.”

“If it’s not where you mentioned, how will you find it again?”

Ethan took out the compass he still carried in his pocket and showed it to them. “This compass will guide us to the right place.”

“Is it a magic compass?” Alessandro asked, intrigued.

“This compass isn’t mine, it belongs to Princess Kiara, so I’m not sure.”

“You mentioned before that she’s taking care of Lissana. What’s she like?” Abril asked.

“Your daughter couldn’t be in better hands.”

“Why don’t you tell me what she’s like?”

“She’s someone who’s willing to help you.”

“Is she kind?”

“You could say that.”

“Your answers are very vague,” Alessandro said.

“I’ve never been close to the princess. I only know that she’s someone who fights against injustice and has always opposed the absurd, archaic rules we have.”

Ethan looked at the compass. Seeing that the needle was still pointing to the Norton Forest, he assumed that the rift he had used to leave Arkala was still in the same place. He urged his horse forward. “We should hurry. The Norton Forest is a difficult place to navigate at night.”

Alessandro also urged his horse forward. When they reached the Norton Forest, it was already late, and since they hadn’t stopped to rest all day, Abril’s legs were numb. “Are we almost there yet? I can’t feel my legs anymore.”

Ethan stopped abruptly and replied, “We’re here.”

Abril looked from side to side, but she didn’t see any entrance. “Are you sure?”

Ethan dismounted. Guided by the compass, he extended his hand to the spot where the rift should be. It disappeared into thin air.

Ethan said, “The barrier that covers the Elven Kingdom is invisible, that’s why you can’t see it with the naked eye, but I assure you it’s here.”
