“Did she really agree to let us go?”

“She can’t detain you or Lissana. I told you before. And about Abril, let’s say I said something convincing.”

Sophia gave Lissana one last look and closed her eyes. She remained like that for a few moments. When she opened her eyes again, it was no longer Sophia speaking, but Abril. Sophia had disappeared as if she

were an illusion.

When Abril opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was Alessandro and Lissana reaching out to her. Abril took her daughter in her arms, then looked around and, seeing they were alone, asked, “Where is everyone?”

“They’ve gone.”

After Abril burped her and patted her back gently, he took Lissana so Abril could eat, though he had to stay very close since Abril didn’t want to be separated from her little one. It was as if she feared someone would take her away if she let go, as she held her hand the entire time.

After dinner, they lay down on the large bed in the room since Lissana had fallen asleep. They placed her between them, even though there was a crib next to the bed. Abril kept stroking her daughter’s head, who

was sleeping soundly. While doing so, she said to Alessandro, “I’m sorry.”

“Why are you apologizing?”

“For not telling you that Lissana’s power had awakened. I acted like a fool by hiding it.”

Alessandro caressed Abril’s cheek and tucked a lock of her blonde hair behind her ear. Although she

looked beautiful as a blonde, he preferred her brilliant red hair. “I won’t deny that it upset me a lot, but I

don’t want us to fight over it. I almost lost you, Aby. Right now, I don’t care what you did before. I’ve already

forgiven you and forgotten it completely. Right now, I just want to enjoy this moment of being together as

a family.”

Alessandro gave her a gentle kiss on the lips and said, “Now rest. You’re still recovering.”
