Part II: Bow with fairies
Cassian emerged from the secret passage, noticing the sun beginning to rise. He felt a bit confused. “It’s already dawn!”
“Yes, I told you that time in the guardians‘ hall flows differently. What felt like a short while for us was several hours here. That’s why Mom said not to cling to that place, because if you do, you’ll stop living.”
“Maya! I need to see how she’s doing.”
“I’ll see you later, brother.”
Cassian ran to his room. When he arrived, he saw Maya lying in bed, still asleep. He sat on the edge of the bed and gazed at her sleeping face. She no longer looked pale and haggard; she looked much better. Cassian gently caressed Maya’s cheek with his fingertips, a sweet and tender touch. She opened her eyes and asked, “Where were you? I was waiting for you.”
“Sorry, I was with my brother.”
“So, he told you everything.”
“I guess Aby filled you in.”
“Yes.”
Maya sat up, placed her hand on Cassian’s cheek, and with a big smile on her lips, said, “We no longer
have to worry about what the fairy queen will do. We don’t have to worry about being separated. I know we
will have to part, but it will only be temporary, not permanent.”
“I know, Maya. Soon you’ll be well, and you won’t have to suffer anymore.”
Cassian hugged Maya. “Soon you’ll be the same strong, brave, and a little crazy girl who loves to clash
swords with me.”
“And don’t forget to mention that I love to travel.”
“That too.”
Maya wrapped her arms around Cassian’s neck and said, “Finally, I can break the bond that ties me to the fairy queen and be free to love you, not just for a time, but for a lifetime.”
“Are you still planning to marry me?”
“Yes, now more than ever,”
Maya released Cassian, wanting to see his face as she spoke. “I want to be your wife, and I don’t want to keep postponing it. Let’s get married now.”
“Now?”
“Yes, I don’t want a ceremony that will take months to prepare. I just want a simple celebration with you,

Cassian had always dreamed of a grand wedding with Maya, one that the entire kingdom would talk
about. But at that moment, all of that seemed unnecessary. He wanted to marry Maya and unite his life
with hers in every possible way; he didn’t want to wait any longer.
“That sounds like a good idea. I’ll start preparing everything. Your father, we need to invite your father. Do you think he can come today? The temple, I also need to contact them and…”
Maya placed her hand on Cassian’s cheek and said, “Calm down. When I said now, I didn’t mean this very instant. We can wait a few days. Let’s prepare everything and invite our closest friends.”
“I’ll take care of the wedding. You should rest.”
“No, it’s my wedding too, so I’ll help.”
Cassian kissed Maya on the forehead and said, “I can’t believe we’re getting married. It feels like I’m
dreaming.”
Maya pinched Cassian’s arm. “Ouch! That hurts!”
“That means you’re not dreaming. This is reality, our reality.”
“Lessan, I need to tell him that we’re getting married.”
“We should tell him during lunch. That way, I can also tell my brother and Aby. Let’s tell everyone at once.”
“That sounds like a good idea. I’ll ask the maids to prepare a great feast.”
Cassian kissed Maya’s forehead again and ran out the door. Maya sighed deeply, staring at the door.
“Are you really going to marry the human?” asked the pixie, appearing before Maya.
“I thought you had already returned to the land of the fairies.”
“I will remain in the human world until you decide to return. That is my mission.”
“I will return to the land of the fairies. Go and tell the queen.”
“If you’re going back to the land of the fairies, why are you marrying the human?”
“Because I love him and want to spend the rest of my life with him.”
“If you go back to the land of the fairies, you won’t be able to be with him.”
“You’re wrong. I will return to the land of the fairies, but I don’t plan to stay.”
“So go and tell the fairy queen that I will return soon.”
The little pixie was not very convinced to do what Maya was asking, but seeing the determination in her eyes, she couldn’t refuse.
“Alright, I’ll do as you ask. Anyway, the queen will be pleased to hear that you’re returning.”

The pixie disappeared after saying that, leaving Maya staring into nothingness, wondering if she had done the right thing by sending the pixie back. She shook her head and told herself, “No, everything will be fine. I did the right thing.”

The fairy queen was in the throne room when the pixie suddenly appeared.
“You’ve come to give your report.”
“No, Your Majesty, today I bring a message from Maya.”
