When Abril arrived at the palace in Alessandro’s arms, Kiara, who was descending the stairs at that

moment, was greatly surprised. She hurried down the stairs and asked, “What happened?!”

Abril replied, “I’m fine, so change that expression. I just used more magic than I should have; I’m just a bit

tired.”

Kiara felt relieved and asked, “Did things not go well?”

“It was more difficult than we thought, but in the end, it went well because we all managed to return.”

“Explain what happened?”

“I’ll tell you later. I’m exhausted and just want to rest.”

Kiara touched Abril’s arm and infused magic into her. “Bearers of light don’t accept healing magic well

from mages or healers, but we do from another bearer of light.”

“I hope you recover soon.”

Alessandro carried Abril to her room and took her directly to the bathroom since her clothes were covered

in dirt. He helped her remove her clothes and placed her in the bathtub. As he ran a sponge over her back,

he said, “I was so scared today. For a moment, I thought I lost you.”

Abril caught Alessandro’s hand as it passed over her shoulder and said, “I felt the same. I thought that

creature had hurt you, that its claws had pierced your armor.”

“They didn’t, and I don’t think it really wanted to fight me. It seemed like it was just doing that to attract

you.”

“I thought the same. Those creatures are different from monsters; they are stronger and, above all, they think and reason. That creature spoke of other worlds. What do you think it meant by that?”

“I don’t know. I thought Hades was in the depths of the earth, but apparently, it’s not. We should ask Kiara what the elves know about Hades. I’ll also ask my mother. As a guardian, she must know exactly what that place is.”

“Yes, we should.”

Alessandro hugged Abril from behind and asked, “Are you sure you’re okay?”

“I’m really fine, just tired.”

Alessandro poured water over Abril’s head and began to wash her hair, which was full of dirt and black dust from the monsters. She closed her eyes as he did so and said, “You shouldn’t be doing this; the maids can help me. You must be tired too.”

“I don’t want to be away from you. I want to be with you. After what happened today, doing this calms me.”
