Need Your Help
When Cassian arrived in the city of Farell, the first thing he did was go straight to the information guild to look for Maya, but when he got there, she wasn’t there.
Leo approached him as he entered the tavern, and asked.
“What are you doing here again?”
“I’m looking for Maya. Do you know where she is?”
“No, and even if I did, I wouldn’t tell you.”
“Hey, I’m not looking for trouble, there’s just something important I need to ask her.”

“There are more people here who can help you with whatever you need, but you’re only looking for Maya. I don’t think your intentions towards her are good.”
Cassian sighed heavily and thought to himself.
“Here we go again.”
Leo was giving him the same speech as the first time they met. Cassian thought, “I don’t have time for this.”
Cassian was about to give Leo an excuse to get rid of him, but just then Barto, the leader of the information guild, approached them and said.
“Leo, if my sister finds out you’re bothering her clients, she’ll surely get upset.”
“I just…”
Maya suddenly appeared and said.
“Here we go again, Leo.”
“Maya, this guy…”
“I know what you’re going to say, Leo, and I don’t care. Just stop driving away my clients, or I’ll start poaching yours.”
Maya looked at Cassian and said,
“Back again, huh?”
“Can we talk for a moment?”

“Of course, follow me.”

Cassian followed Maya to Barto’s office, and as they entered, she closed the door and said,
“We’ll be alone here. What brings you to visit?”
“I want to know more about the elves, I want to find them.”
“And what do you want me to do?”
“I want you to help me find them.”
“Hey, this is the information guild for a reason. We provide information, we don’t find people, and even less so elves. I’ve already told you it’s not easy to find them.”
“You said it’s not easy, not that it’s impossible.”
“I’ve already told you everything I know.”
“You said your brother and your father used to talk to them.”
“When they come, which they don’t do very often.”
“But maybe they know how to find them.”
“And I suppose you want me to ask them? But I’ve already told you we don’t reveal our clients‘ information, my brother and my father won’t tell me anything.”
“The last time we met, you said you would help me.”
“I said I would try.”
“And have you?”
“I tried, and they told me to find something else to occupy myself with, to stop asking about the elves.”
“If I talk to your father or your brother, do you think they would tell me something?”
“I doubt it, and if they find out I told you about the elves, they’ll be mad at me, so don’t even think about it.”
“I need to find them, Maya.”
“I’m sorry, but I can’t help you with that.”
“There must be a way to find them, please help me.”

Cassian gave her a pleading look, Maya was a bit weak with that, but she couldn’t do anything more for him, so she replied.
“I really wish I could help you, but I can’t.”
Maya headed towards the door and said,
“I’m truly sorry, but I think this trip might have been for nothing.”

Maya left the room, and Cassian followed her. She was standing, staring intently at a tall, blond man with golden eyes who had just entered the tavern. Cassian said to her.
“Please, Maya…”
Maya turned to look at him and, with a smile, said,
“You’re in luck.”
“What?”
Maya pointed to the blond man who had just entered and said in a low voice.
“Do you see that man over there?”
Cassian looked at the man Maya was pointing to, and something caught his attention; that man had golden eyes just like Abril.
“Who is that man?”
“I think he’s what you’re looking for.”
“Is he an elf?”
“Quiet, they will hear you if you speak so loudly.”
“Is he really a…”
“Yes.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, that man has been coming to the information guild since I was a child.”
Cassian headed towards where that man was. Maya stopped him and said,
“Where do you think you’re going?”
“I need to talk to him.”

“Wait, if you go now you’ll only scare him away.”
Maya dragged Cassian outside, saying,
“Where are you taking me?”
“We’ll wait for him to leave, and then we’ll follow him.”
“What if he leaves through another door?”
“This tavern only has one entrance. It’s to prevent undesirables from sneaking in. If he leaves, it’ll be through here.”
Once outside the tavern, Maya hid behind some barrels and said to Cassian.
“Come, we have to hide, we don’t want him to discover us.”
Cassian stood in front of the door, hesitating whether to do what Maya was telling him. Seeing that Cassian was still standing in front of the door, she said.
“Hey, if you want to talk to that man, this is the best way, otherwise he might end up escaping.”
Cassian went to where Maya was and said,
“Okay, I’ll trust you.”
“Smart move.”
While they waited, Cassian asked her.
“How do you know that man is an elf?”
“By the color of his eyes.”
“What?”
“They use magic to hide their true appearance, but they can’t change the color of their eyes, no matter how hard they try, at least that’s what my father told me one day.”
“But there are also people with that eye color.”
Maya looked at him and said,
“Humans don’t have golden eyes. If you’ve ever seen someone with golden eyes, they’re an elf
or a descendant of one.”
Cassian thought that Maya’s eye color was also unusual and asked.

“Are you sure about what you’re saying?”
“Yes, very sure. By the way, you still haven’t told me why you want to find an elf.”
“There’s something I need to ask him.”
“I suppose you won’t tell me what you want to ask him.”
“I’d like to tell you, but I can’t.”
“I figured. Don’t worry, I’m discreet; I won’t tell anyone your secrets.”
“I know, but it’s not my secret.”
“Alright, then I won’t insist on you telling me.”
“Do you think he’ll take a long time to come out?”

“I don’t think so. Whenever an elf comes, they’re here for a short time, they just ask what they want to know and then they leave.”
“They’re not like you.”
“What do you mean?”
“You tend to come to the guild very often and when you do, you stay for hours. Everyone knows you.”
Cassian was about to say something, but Maya covered his mouth and whispered.
“He’s coming out, let’s follow him. Try to be quiet.”
They followed him, staying hidden in the shadows until they reached the forest, where they lost him. They emerged from the shadows and Cassian asked.
“Where did he go?”
“I don’t know, he was walking very fast.”
Cassian complained, “I shouldn’t have listened to you.”
“Don’t blame me. You lost sight of him.”
“But if you had let me approach him in the tavern, this wouldn’t have happened.”
“Sorry for stopping you from doing something foolish.”
While the two argued, the man they were following emerged from the shadows, lunged at

“Who are you, and why are you following me?”
Maya raised her hands and said,
“Don’t harm us, we just want to talk.”

Upon hearing Maya’s voice, the man recognized her as Barto’s sister and Poel’s daughter, the former head of the information guild.
“Are you Maya?”
“So you’ve recognized me.”
The man used his magic, causing small balls of light to float around him, illuminating their faces. But he didn’t remove the dagger from Cassian’s neck. Maya said to him.
“Would you release my friend?”
“Why were you following me?”
“My friend wanted to ask you something. Could you release him?”
The man released Cassian, but he didn’t put away his dagger, keeping it ready in case they
tried to attack him. He asked Cassian.
“Do
you know me?”
“Actually, no. Let me introduce myself. My name is Cassian.”
“My name is Ethan, and if I don’t know you, and you don’t know me, what do you want from
me?”
