A Moonlit Dance
Alessandro woke Abril up when it was time for dinner. They both headed to the dining room, where the duchess was seated alone.
“Where are the children?”
Abril asked since she couldn’t see them anywhere.
“They’re sleeping. They’ve been playing all afternoon, running around the garden, and they’re exhausted. But please take a seat; dinner will be served shortly.”
Alessandro pulled out a chair for Abril. The duchess watched them; she had known the king for a long time, but this was the first time she saw him being so kind and sweet to a woman.
During dinner, she noticed how the king looked at his wife with immense and deep love. Undoubtedly, she had melted the king’s cold and hard heart, making him kinder.
After dinner, Abril didn’t want to return to the room. She had been sleeping all afternoon, so she wasn’t sleepy. She said to Alessandro, “We could go for a walk, I’m not sleepy.”
Alessandro stood up, extended his hand to Abril, and said, “Of course, if you’ll excuse us, duchess, we will take our leave.”
While walking through the garden, Abril looked up at the sky. It was a beautiful night; the stars shone brightly, just like the moon. Alessandro gently squeezed her hand and said, “Come.”
Abril continued walking to where there were some flowers that seemed to glow in the moonlight and said, “They’re beautiful. It’s the first time I’ve seen flowers like this. Why do they glow?”
“They’re moonflowers. They’re very rare and only glow in certain places.”
Alessandro picked one of the flowers, handed it to Abril, and said, “It’s for you, Aby.”
The flower emitted a sweet fragrance. Abril stood on tiptoe, kissed him, and said, “Thank. you.”
Alessandro used his wind magic and created a soft melody.
“How did you do that?”
“You can do many things with magic. This is one of them.”
Alessandro stepped back a little, bowed, extended his hand, and said, “Would you like to

dance?”
“I don’t know how to dance.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll teach you.”
Abril took his hand and said, “I’d love to.”

Alessandro took her by the waist and led the dance. Their bodies moved to the rhythm of the music. While dancing, Abril stepped on his feet countless times, yet he never complained. They danced for quite a while until Abril felt tired and said, “Can we rest for a moment?”
“Of course.”
They both sat on a nearby bench. Abril kept looking at the flowers and said, “Thank you.”
“For the dance?”
“No, well, yes, but it’s not just for the dance.”
She looked him directly in the eyes and said, “Thank you for the wonderful times and beautiful memories. With them, I have erased the bad ones.”
“Don’t you have a single good memory from when you lived in the kingdom of Laios?”
“No, from that place I only have bad memories.”
“Was King Venobich cruel to you?”
“Actually, he ignored me. To him, it was as if I didn’t exist, but my sisters and brothers, they…”
Abril left what she was saying unfinished, shook her head, and said, “I don’t want to talk about them. Anyway, that’s the past, now it doesn’t matter.”
Alessandro saw how Abril’s hand trembled slightly. He wondered to what extent Abril had suffered in that place, how deep the wounds of her past were. He placed his hand over hers and said, “All that is in the past. Now you’re with me, and I won’t let anyone hurt you.”
“I know, but sometimes it’s hard for me to believe that all this is real and not just an illusion.”
Alessandro gently squeezed Abril’s hand and said, “You can feel it.”
Abril nodded, and Alessandro replied, “What you feel is not a dream, nor an illusion. It’s real. If you ever doubt what is real, you just have to hold my hand tightly.”
Alessandro brought his face close to Abril’s, pressed his lips against hers, and said, “You just have to kiss me, and you will feel the warmth of my lips.”

Alessandro hugged her and continued saying.
“You just need to hug me, and you’ll hear my heart beating strongly for you.”
Abril wrapped her arms around him, rested her chin on his shoulder, and said.
“Then that’s what I’ll do.”

After contemplating the beautiful night for a while, they both returned to the room. Abril still wasn’t tired, and Alessandro asked.
“You’re still not tired?”
“Yes, even after dancing for a while, sleep still hasn’t come to me.”
Alessandro kissed her neck as his hands slowly lifted her nightgown and said in a soft and
seductive voice.
“I know another way to help you sleep.”
Abril asked innocently.
“What?”
Alessandro brought his mouth to her ear and said.
“I could make love to you repeatedly. When we’re done, I assure you, you’ll be so tired you’ll fall asleep immediately.”
Abril couldn’t deny that it was true; every time they made love, she was completely exhausted, so much so that the next day she usually woke up at noon. Alessandro asked her while his furtive hands caressed her waist and slowly moved up her spine.
“What do you think? Do you want to?”
Abril enjoyed being one with Alessandro, feeling loved in his arms, although she was a bit embarrassed to ask for it. Alessandro gave her small kisses on the neck and shoulders, tempting her, and asked again.
“What do you think? Should we?”
Abril nodded, Alessandro kissed her on the lips and said.
“Great, because I’m dying to make love to you and make you completely mine.”
