The next day, when Abril woke up, she saw Alessandro getting ready to leave.

“Are you leaving already?”

Alessandro approached the bed, stroked her tousled hair, and replied, “Yeah, I’ll leave now and

“They are in the garden with the duchess.”

“Could you take me to them?”

“Of course, but don’t you want to have breakfast first?”

“Yes.”

After she finished dressing her, the maid went to the kitchen and soon returned with a tray full of delicious food. After breakfast, the maid took her to the garden where the children and the duchess were.

When the children saw Abril, they ran to greet her.

“Abril, good morning.”

“Good morning, children, how are you?”

“Good, we’ve had a lot of fun with the duchess,” Otis replied.

As they walked through the garden, Abril saw the moonflowers. During the day they didn’t shine, but instead, displayed a beautiful white color. The duchess, noticing where the princess was looking, said to her, “They are very beautiful, don’t you think?”

“Yes, they are lovely. Last night I saw them, their glow is magical.”

“That’s right, they are beautiful flowers and also have a nice story. Would you like me to tell it

to you?”

“Yes, please.”

“These flowers are called moonflowers because during moonlit nights they have a beautiful splendor. I don’t know if it’s true or not, but my mother used to say that these flowers came

from the realm of the elves.”

Abril had read about elves in some books, but she never imagined they could be real.

“Are elves real?”

“According to my mother, yes, which is why they were so special.”

“That makes the flowers even more beautiful.”

“I think so too.”

Cassian was about to leave when he saw Maya in front of his door.

“Where are you going?”

“I have nothing else to do here, so I’m leaving. What’re you doing here?”

Maya entered the room, sat on the bed, and said.

“Tell me everything and don’t skip any details, especially the real reason why you started looking into the elves‘ existence and all.”

“Do you promise not to tell anyone?”

“I won’t, I promise.”

Cassian hesitated for a moment about whether or not to tell Maya everything.

“Look, I’ll keep your secret safe, I just want to know what’s going on, I just want answers. If a war with dark forces is coming, I need to be ready.”

“Alright, I’ll tell you, but if you tell anyone…”

“I already told you I won’t, I’ll keep your secret safe, although we can make a blood promise if that makes you feel better, but it’s not necessary because I give you my word and that’s worth more than any promise.”
