Fresh out of the shower, Alicia felt wide awake. She stretched out on the bed and sent Austin a text.
‘Mr. Burton, are you home yet?‘
Keeping clients close is part of the job, too.
Ten minutes ticked by without a reply. She didn’t fuss over it. The alarm was set, the lights were off, and she was out like a light. No overthinking, no pointless waiting.
Before dawn the next morning, she was already up. She finished breakfast, got in the car, and headed straight for Austin’s private villa.
The early summer air still carried a faint chill. Morning light spilled across the trees, birds chirping from the branches.
When Austin opened the door, the first thing he saw was the woman waiting under the jacaranda.
She wasn’t in a long dress today. She was just in a crisp white one with clean lines, sharp and straightforward.
“Morning, Mr. Burton.”
He checked his watch. “Right on time.”
Alicia smiled, teeth bright as pearls. “Punctuality’s the bare minimum. Stick around long enough and you‘ see–I’ve got a lot more going for me.”
She opened the passenger door with the eagerness of a personal assistant. Once Austin was settled in, she unwrapped the neatly packed lunchbox.
Inside was a sandwich, some sliced oranges, a little snowman made of strawberries and bananas that looked playful and childlike, plus a cup of coffee.
Austin frowned. “That’s all you eat in the morning?”
She gave him a quick wink. “What else did you expect? Time’s a luxury for working folks. And just so you know, I don’t usually bother cutting fruit. That’s only because it’s you.”
Most days, she got by on a coffee and a quick burger. Fast and simple.
“You’re still the CEO at Southam,” he reminded her.
“Which makes me the one pulling the heaviest load,” Alicia shot back, light but firm. “Half the time I sleep in the office. And at eight in the morning? That’s prime time. If I wasted it on some extravagant breakfast, how would I get any business done?”
Austin gave her a sidelong glance. “You know, even if you did nothing at all, you’d never have to worry about money.”

Alamaldeopped Austin off at the company. He unbuckled but didn’t get out right away. She stayed qu wwwning to his word.
Bring me lunch later.” He glanced at the lunchbox. “Don’t try to fob me off with a sad little meal, my nifitend.
She grinned, all sunshine. “Sure thing, Mr. Gibson. I’ll make sure you’re happy.”
Austin stepped out of the car, his tailored suit sharp against his tall frame. The morning sun hit him square in the face, but couldn’t soften the hard edges carved into his expression.
As he shut the door, he carried off the breakfast he’d been sneering at all morning.
The second he walked out, Alicia got her hands on his assistant’s number.
She had only wanted to get a hint of what he liked. Instead, ten minutes later, a stranger showed up: friend requests and soon after sent her a file with sharp efficiency.
Forget about preferences. This looks more like a family chart. Totally ridiculous!
She was still shaking her head when she returned and spotted a fresh update on her feed.
The profile picture showed a rainbow ice cream cone. It looked so childish. It was hard to dini but undoubtedly, that account belonged to Austin.
When a client I close a deal with posts something, I always drop a like.
She tapped it open. Surprisingly, she saw a pink lunchbox on the dark office desk.cat ppekked wi sandwiches, a few fruit slices, and a cup of coffee on the side. The caption under catheellike rel tagline, ‘Breakfast made with love.”
Alicia froze, staring at it for a good three seconds. Just to be sure she wasnt seeenghhings, shevi on the profile picture, checking if it belonged to the same person.
And there it was. The message she sent last night was still sitting there emnanswered. Proof that she i been hallucinating, and she sure as hell hadn’t mixed up the accouur.
Is Austin really that reserved but secretly wild? Complaining on one hands/showing off on the other?
She wanted to check out his old social media posts and seeavhhatinador vibe he usually put out, bu was nothing except that one post.
