From His Invisible Wife to the World's Icon novel Chapter 110

Lydia stood frozen in place. She knew she had to stop him, but her feet felt like lead; she couldn't move an inch.

She watched Colton smirk. "I pursued her once."

She stared in utter shock...

When had he ever pursued her? All he had ever done was ruthlessly exploit her.

"I had no idea she was the CEO's wife now," he said, his tone dripping with mock regret, as if it were the absolute truth. "I always thought she only cared about academics..."

"I won't negotiate with you," she interrupted sharply. If she let Colton keep talking, her cover would be completely blown.

Colton pressed his lips together and looked at Frederick.

She didn't think Frederick would agree.

The man had practically just declared he used to chase after her. No self-respecting husband would let his wife work closely with a man who had openly lusted after her.

Frederick's cold, apathetic gaze swept over her face. "My wife is somewhat of a researcher herself. It seems she and Dr. Witt will have plenty in common. She can represent The Foster Group."

With one effortless sentence, he practically served her up on a silver platter.

She stared at Frederick...

She finally understood what Harrison meant when he said Frederick would stop at nothing to get what he wanted!

She wasn't even surprised that he placed so little value on her.

She only felt a crushing wave of regret.

How could she have ever thought he was unmatched? How could she have ever believed he was the perfect man?

The crowd around them let out soft gasps.

But in the arena of wealth and power, no one found this entirely absurd.

They simply shifted their gazes between Sierra, Frederick, and her, silently speculating about a messy love triangle.

"Lydia?" Harrison cast a worried look her way.

She realized Harrison had been speaking with representatives from several major research institutes earlier, and he had seemed to be getting along quite well with Colton. She remembered what Harrison had said in the car.

He needed the licensing rights for the Quantum Tunneling patent.

The one Colton held was one of the best options available.

And that was a patent that rightfully belonged to her.

"Fine. I'll negotiate with you," Lydia said quietly.

Colton looked immensely satisfied. He signaled his assistant, who brought up his schedule and carved out a slot. "Mrs. Foster, does this time work for you?"

Lydia glanced at it. "It works."

Watching Colton take the stage, bathed in the spotlight as he discussed his concepts and patents with other renowned scientists, she felt a sharp sting in her eyes. He looked so brilliant and dazzling.

All that glory should have been hers.

"Harrison, what's the absolute maximum budget we can afford for the licensing rights?"

"I'll have to ask Mr. Ford." Harrison pulled out his phone. Just then, a spotlight hit him, making him look equally brilliant.

"Please welcome our rising scientific star, Mr. Zane, to the stage..."

Thunderous applause erupted through the hall.

"Lydia, you ask him." Harrison unlocked his phone and handed it to her.

"Okay."
