From His Invisible Wife to the World's Icon novel Chapter 111

Colton Witt's curiosity was piqued, as if he had stumbled upon a fascinating new toy. "Director Zane's institute? The one we saw earlier?"

"But you're Mrs. Foster, aren't you?"

"Trouble in paradise with your husband?"

"Name your price." She had no interest in discussing her private life with him.

"Looks like I hit the nail on the head!"

"No wonder! He has a top-tier semiconductor expert like you, yet he still needs to collaborate with The Zener Institute. Does he even know what you're capable of?" Colton leaned in, his tone dripping with amusement. "It seems like you're intentionally keeping him in the dark."

His blue eyes narrowed, a predatory gleam flashing in their depths. "Chloe, if the marriage is falling apart, leave him and come back to the institute with me."

"Actually, I—"

"Colton, can we stick to business?" she cut him off smoothly.

"I was the one who achieved the breakthrough for the Quantum Tunneling Tech. It merely bore your name after The Zener Institute stripped me of the patent rights."

"Millions of dollars for a one-year licensing agreement."

"Do we have a deal?"

Colton leaned back in his chair, a shrewd glint in his eye. "I'll need to run this by the board. Let me make a quick call."

"Are you absolutely sure you don't want to discuss the partnership between Zener and The Foster Group?"

Seeing his relentless interest in her personal life, she frowned. "The Foster Group has nothing to do with me."

"I'm going to step into the restroom. I hope you'll have a satisfactory answer for me when I get back."

"Alright." Colton gestured for his assistant to hand him his phone.

For Zener, this was simply another licensing agency on their roster.

There was no reason to turn down easy money.

Knowing the inner workings of The Zener Institute, she knew it was strictly business. It all came down to the price.

Lydia stepped into the restroom, grabbing a paper towel to dab away the exhaustion clinging to the corners of her eyes before walking back out.

She immediately spotted Frederick emerging from the opposite side, looking every inch the aristocratic billionaire.

Before this meeting, Caleb had handed her a contract detailing the negotiation terms.

The goal was to drive the price down to under a billion dollars.

The man finished washing his hands, accepted a towel from the attendant, and tossed it into the trash. His icy gaze swept over her face, a flicker of displeasure in his eyes, before he walked away with effortless grace.

They were more estranged than strangers now.

He paraded Sierra around town, practically begging the world to mock her.

She had no reason to do a single favor for The Foster Group, or for him.

Lydia's gaze turned somber as she walked out of the restroom area.

"Chloe, I'm sorry, but I can't license the patent to your institute," Colton said, his tone apologetic.

"Is it a matter of money?"

"No," Colton said, suddenly standing up and looking past her shoulder.

She followed his gaze and saw Frederick slowly approaching with Sierra by his side.
