Chapter 19
“Say that again? Did you say Isabel Stone?” I asked again, as I could hardly believe my ears.
Mom nodded and replied, “Yes. Brandon’s been very tight-lipped. I heard they’ve been together for quite a while. But since she’s a celebrity, he’s kept it from us because he was afraid it would bring her trouble.”
Dad chuckled as well. “No wonder he never dated other women all these years and never mentioned marriage. We thought something was wrong with him. It turns out he’s had his eye on someone all along!”
Their words shattered my worldview. Isabel already had a three-year-old child with Steve, but she was stringing Brandon along at the same time!
Right now, she was in Beyer Island with Steve. So what role was Brandon playing in all of this? When did all of this even begin?
Countless questions swam in my head, and my face turned visibly pale.
Mom noticed immediately and asked with concern, “Zara, what’s wrong?”
For a long while, I struggled to organize my thoughts and words. I wanted to expose Isabel’s true colors. But seeing how pleased both my parents were with their future daughter-in-law, I decided to test the waters first.
“Mom, Dad, you saw those rumors about Isabel a while ago, right? You know, the ones about her having a sugar daddy? The man in those photos doesn’t resemble Brandon,” I said.
As soon as my words fell, Mom frowned in displeasure. “Those gossip mongers are deliberately smearing Isabel. How can you believe that? Aren’t you an entertainment journalist? Don’t you know their tricks?”
Dad nodded in agreement. “I saw that news too. The man’s face was completely blurred until we couldn’t discern anything. How can they ruin her reputation just based on that? That’s not very fair.”
Seeing that my parents were so clueless and in the dark, I almost blurted everything out.
I could show them the high-definition photos I had bought for ten million dollars. I could even take them to my house and let them see for themselves who their future daughter-in- law really was.
But at the last second, I swallowed it all back and asked, “Has Brandon brought her to meet
you yet? Have the two families met?”

At the mention of this, Mom smiled brightly. “We’re anxious too. But Brandon says celebrity and the paparazzi are watching closely. He’s making arrangements. At the latest, he’ll bring her home to meet us next week.”
My heart skipped a beat.
Keeping my expression neutral, I said, “Mom, when Brandon brings her over next week, be
sure to let me know. I want to meet my future sister-in-law, too. She’s a celebrity, after all! I
usually only see them on TV.”
Mom replied, all smiles, “Of course. Bring Steve with you, too. Let’s all have a proper meal together.”
“Definitely,” I agreed solemnly.
How could I let Steve miss out on a show like this?
Still, one thing gnawed at me. Isabel already had Steve’s child, and he doted on her so much. It
seemed like it was only a matter of time before she secured the position as Steve’s wife.
So why was she stringing Brandon along?
As I contemplated this, I was careful not to let anything slip and alert anyone unnecessarily.
I added casually, “By the way, don’t tell Brandon that I’ll be coming back that day. Just say it’ll be you and Dad meeting my future sister-in-law.”
Mom looked at me with confusion written on her face. “But why?”
I smiled lightly and explained, “Well, think about it. Ms. Stone is a celebrity. She has to be very careful with her schedule and appearances. If she finds out her future sister-in-law is an entertainment journalist…
“Given the sensitivity of my job, would she dare come to our house? She might even change her mind about marrying Brandon!”
Mom looked alarmed. She was afraid that Isabel might really have second thoughts if she found out.
She said, “You’re right, Zara. You really thought this through. We’ll keep it from Brandon for now. We won’t want Isabel to feel nervous about meeting us.”
After lunch, Mo for a few days.

But later that afternoon, I received a call from a media company inviting me for an interview the next day. It was a newly established company and was recruiting aggressively.
For me, this was a rare opportunity.
All my clothes were at home. So, I needed to go back and put together a proper outfit. I needed to take this interview seriously.
