I finally snapped, “Are you saying you didn’t deliberately send me to pick her up yesterday? That you didn’t plan it with her beforehand?”

Claire flared up and shot back sharply, “Zara Yaxley, don’t you dare blame me baselessly! Let me tell you the truth-Isabel is my boyfriend’s younger sister. That’s all there is to it. How did you twist that into so many conspiracy theories?”

I froze in surprise. At the same time, Claire didn’t look like she was lying.

Besides, I was already her subordinate, and I’d just openly fallen out with her and tried to resign. There was no reason for her to lie to me right now.
