Chapter 32
Jake no longer dared to refuse my request for an interview. After all, reporters were swarming
outside.
If I were to expose my relationship with Steve and Isabel’s relationship with him, Griffin Group would be doomed.
At last, Jake nodded. “Alright. Then please come with me.”
He led me to the top floor, to the CEO’s office, and said, “Mrs. Griffin, please wait here for a moment. I’ll go inform Mr. Griffin first.”
As if I’d wait for him to give Steve a heads-up.
If Steve knew I was here to interview him, would he even cooperate willingly?
“There’s no need. It’s not like he’s doing anything shameful in his office. I can go in right now.
!!
With that, I strode toward his office. Jake tried to stop me, but he couldn’t.
However, the moment I pushed the door open, I froze.
In front of the floor-to-ceiling windows, Isabel had wrapped her arms around Steve’s waist from behind, her face pressed against his back intimately.
My scoff startled them both, and they immediately let go of each other.
Steve’s dark, chilling gaze locked onto me.
I had underestimated his ability to withstand pressure. At a time like this, I thought he’d be frantic and overwhelmed, yet he still had the mood for intimacy with Isabel.
Seeing this, Jake hurriedly apologized to Steve, “I’m sorry, Mr. Griffin. I couldn’t stop Mrs. Griffin…”
“Get out,” Steve demanded.
Those words were directed at both Jake and me, telling the two of us to get out together.
However, I didn’t leave, and Jake couldn’t drag me away either.
With Steve’s tacit permission, Jake left first.
The office was left with just the three of us.

I set up my recording equipment, not wanting to waste a single word on him, and went straight to the point..
“Mr. Griffin, is this a convenient time for you to accept my interview? First question-”
Steve cut me off. His cool voice carried a trace of disappointment. “Zara, even at a time like this, you have to come and kick me while I’m down?”
“I’m only doing my job as a journalist.” I held up my press card and said blankly, “Please cooperate with my work, Mr. Griffin.”
Before he could speak, Isabel asked in shock, “Ms. Yaxley, how can you do this? Steve is already in so much pain. I’m begging you, please leave him be.”
“Pain?” I sneered. My gaze sharp as a blade as I looked at her.
I continued, “He’s in pain and still has the mood to fool around with women? The ones truly in pain are the laborers who worked hard for six months and never got paid!”
Isabel bit her lip, looking aggrieved. “You’ve misunderstood. I was just comforting Steve…”
I shot back sarcastically, “How did you comfort him? Did you come all the way to his office to take off your clothes and offer yourself in bed as comfort?”
Steve said coldly, “You’re not only sharp-tongued now-you’re also disgusting.”
I nodded. “Yes, I’m disgusting. I’m the one living in luxury, feeding on others’ hard work, driving the people who work for me to jump off buildings to their deaths. I’m a beast, inhumane and merciless. Mr. Griffin, can you accept the interview now?”
Steve looked at me quietly for a moment. His long fingers rubbed at his brows as they knitted tightly together.
“I don’t have the time right now. I’m heading to the construction site. If you really want to interview me, come along,” he said.
This time, I had to get something real, something to answer to the public.
There was no way I’d let him shake me off.
As such, I picked up my equipment and followed him out.
I didn’t know if he’d been angered out of his mind, but seeing that I was carrying so much gear, he even had Jake help me.
What I hadn’t expected was that he also brought Isebal along to the site.
