From Wife to Aunt: His Worst Nightmare novel Chapter 56

Steve told me, "Get some rest. Call the doctor if anything feels off."

Then, he hurriedly left.

My phone showed many missed calls. I quickly called Juliet back.

Her worried voice came through, "Zara, why haven't you answered your phone for so many days? I was dying to reach you! Tristan said your phone was broken. Is that true?"

"Yeah, I accidentally dropped it."

I was afraid that Juliet would find out what I had been through lately. With her personality, she'd stop at nothing to confront Steve.

To avoid her digging deeper, I quickly changed the topic. "By the way, I got a sample of Isabel's hair. When will you be back? Help me send this to the testing lab."

"You got it already?" Juliet sounded surprised. "I thought we'd have to wait until you're discharged to get it. I'll be back tomorrow. I'll visit you at the hospital and help you with the discharge process."

"Okay."

After finishing the call with Juliet, I noticed several missed calls from the Yaxley family—all from Wednesday.

If I guessed right, Mom must have called to tell me that Isabel hadn't come over.

After all, with Dorothy sick, Isabel had been at the hospital the whole time. There was no way she could have gone home with Brandon.

I called back, and sure enough, Mom told me that Isabel hadn't returned home with Brandon on Wednesday because her family was ill, and she had to take care of them.

I smiled. It was just as I had expected.

I tested the waters. "Could it be because they're fighting and their relationship isn't stable?"

If the relationship was unstable and they had broken up, Steve wouldn't be able to enjoy this spectacle.

I still couldn't walk properly and relied on crutches and a wheelchair.

Maria and Juliet helped me back to my room.

"Mrs. Griffin, Mr. Griffin has arranged for a nutritionist in the villa. He wants you to get proper nourishment," Maria said.

She was unaware of recent events and was still trying to ease the tension between Steve and me by praising him.

I smiled faintly. "Got it. Maria, go ahead with your work. Juliet and I need to talk."

After Maria left, Juliet looked around my guest room and muttered angrily, "Once the device is out next week, we'll buy it immediately. After that, you're moving to my place. Whether he agrees to the divorce or not, don't you come to this lousy place again! It's bad for you!"

I hummed softly in agreement, then took out the strands of hair I'd pulled from Isabel's head and said, "Help me send this to the testing lab and get the DNA test results for Isabel and Dorothy as soon as possible. Once we have proof in black and white, neither of them can deny anything."

Juliet was thrilled just thinking about it. "After you get divorced, we'll post the DNA test results along with her and Steve's photos online. I really want to see if Isabel still has the nerve to flaunt her life all over Instagram!"
