Chapter 339
I stare at her shocked, “You knew who I was?” I ask her, and she nods. “I did. And I knew what you were running from. And I knew what my sister would do if she found you. It was a tough day letting you leave, but I knew you’d be better off with Nick, far away from me. I just wanted to help you get started, be better off then the state I found you in.”
I shake my head. “You never said anything.” I whisper, betrayal stabbing my heart. Her eyes fall, “I wasn’t practicing anymore. I had made the decision to let myself die and just live whatever life I had left. I couldn’t have helped you. Not with the moonman and honestly at the time… I was hoping there was still a chance for my sister. I still believed she might come around and not… Do what she’s doing to an innocent.” She tells me, and my eyes fall.
I guess I can understand believing the best in someone, even if everything is screaming at you to do the coposite.
I lock up at her. “So, I’m in her mind right now?” I ask, not wanting to bring up the past anymore, there’s nothing that we can change about it now.
She glances around, then looks back at me, “Pretty dark in here, don’t you think?”
I nod, “I don’t understand.” She looks around again, “She threw us back to the recesses of her mind to make sure we can’t get out.”
My tongue ticks, “So, there’s a way out?” I ask her, and she smiles, “Amy, there’s always a way. A loophole, a back door, a spell. There. Is. Always. A. Way.” She annunciates every word, trying to push them into my brain.
I look into her eyes, “Why haven’t you gotten out then?” I ask her and she scoffs, “To what, be closer to her, be able to talk to her. I’m more than happy just hanging out back here for the rest of her miserable life.”
