Chapter 343
The world feels frozen. Like the end of the world rests on my shoulders. In this minute, everything can change.
No one seems to move once I start speaking. The clouds open up and lightning strikes. I’m running out of time.
“Devotion isn’t about your soulmate. It comes from so much more. From the bond created to cement a life beyond what we all thought was possible. From friendship that has a power to destroy a person once their gone. Devotion to a mother that could transpire the grave. To the ability to stay friends with the nobody, everybody else hated. To a bond so strong you stayed by her side and helped her find her way home. Each and every one of us are devoted to Amy. She’s the reason we’re all together, why we’re all here. She’s what has always tied us together. Without her we were lost. Not just Griffon and Dallas, we all showed it, just in different ways. She is the one that has always brought us together as a family. We may not all be in love with Amy, but we’re all devoted to her.”
“What are you saying?” Griffon asks, and I turn to look at him, as the wind picks up and the witch continues to throw power at the twin’s shield.
I look over at them, their waning, the clouds are moving closer. This has to happen now!
“I’m saying we do what we’ve always done! I’m saying we do this together!” I release my claw and rip it across my hand over Liam’s pile. Griffon stands from his spot by his father and rips open his hand.
One after another the skin rips and the blood flows while Hazel’s chants get louder and louder.
The blood swirls and lifts from the ground, then shoots in Amy’s direction.
She screams as the blood circles her body and tightens like a rope around her.
The blood seeps through her skin until it comes back out the witch stands there, chained by the blood, fury written all over her face.
Amy falls to the ground and Liam uses whatever strength he has to make his way to her, while the rest of us focus on the witch.
She pulls at the binds. “Burn her!” Hazel shouts and we all move into action.
The binds break right before we get to her, and a wall of power throws us all back. “You fools!” She shouts.
Her body starts to tick and turn and we all watch, confused as it looks like someone takes her over.
“I can’t hold her for long. Please, hurry.” Someone says from the witch’s body. Dad rips up the wood from the closet houses porch and lights in on fire, then Griffon and Dallas drag the witch to it.
