Chapter 154 It Went Completely Off Script
Margaret dropped her casual tone and spoke seriously, “Commander Iverson, you’re used to calling the shots in the military. When danger hits, your first instinct is to shield anyone weaker behind you. Nothing wrong with that. But I’m not some civilian on the front lines who needs your protection-and I’m not some some sheltered girl. I’m SSS-class too.”
Baar’s brow furrowed even deeper. “Females don’t have the same aura or aggression as males. And you don’t have any real combat experience either.”
“That’s exactly why I need to grow. You can’t keep me locked up in a safe zone forever. Today, we get two unknown matches, and you want to throw them straight out. What happens tomorrow if the insectoids actually reach Prime Planet? Are you gonna lock me in an underground bunker?” Margaret asked.
Baar had nothing to say. That was exactly what he’d planned to do.
Margaret looked him straight in the eye. “I need space. You can teach me to fight. You can back me up with fire support. But don’t try to clip my wings just to lock me away somewhere you think is safe. I want equal respect—not one-sided protection.”
The living room fell quiet.
Baar stared at her for a long moment, then ran a hand through his short hair in frustration. “If something actually goes wrong, you call me immediately. No hesitation.”
Margaret reached over and patted his solid forearm. “Got it, Commander Iverson.”
She turned to look at Timothy, who was still moping on the sofa, His blue eyes were fixed straight on her, his whole face scrunched up with hurt feelings.
Margaret walked over and ruffled his bright golden hair. “Come on, don’t look so glum. You’re the heir to the Hurst Group. You really gonna let two men who’ve never even set foot on Prime Planet beat you down?”
Timothy leaned right into her, resting his head on her shoulder. His soft, fluffy hair brushed against the
crook of her neck.
He pouted, “I’m not scared of them. I just don’t want anyone else taking up My Lady’s attention. Promise me-even if they move in, I’m still your favorite.”
Margaret sighed, “Yeah, yeah, you’re my favorite. Now go tell the butler to bring them some basic supplies. Don’t make us look like we’re mistreating the new roommates.”
Timothy got the answer he wanted. He didn’t look happy about it, but he got up and went to make the arrangements anyway.
Margaret smiled, then turned to look at Cheiron.
He sat quietly in the armchair. When he caught Margaret looking his way, he gave her a soft, gentle smile.
Then he stood up, gathered the coffee things from the table, and headed into the kitchen.
He didn’t ask any questions, and he didn’t even try to stop anything.

Late that night, the second-floor master bedroom lay dark, save for a tiny nightlight glowing softly on the nightstand.
Margaret had just gotten out of the shower. She leaned back against the headboard, twisting the blue starbloom between her fingers.
She said in her mind. “Come out. Stop playing dead. You still haven’t told me what’s going on with the original host. Spit it out.”
Primo spoke hesitantly, its voice thick with guilt-like it’d been caught doing something wrong, “Host, take a deep breath first. This whole thing… It’s complicated. You should brace yourself.”
“Cut the crap. Just tell me.” Margaret frowned.
Primo went quiet for two seconds, like it was picking its words carefully. Finally, it sighed and dropped all the soft, roundabout language, “Actually… when you transmigrated into this body, the original host wasn’t fully dead yet.”
Margaret’s fingers stilled on the flower petals.
Primo continued, “She was at death’s door, that much is true. Her spiritual realm was completely shattered, and her vital signs were so faint they were barely detectable. By the system’s standard procedures, that state counts as soul extinction-we’d go ahead with the soul insertion.”
Its voice dropped to a soft, careful murmur. “But the second your soul was inserted into this body, the leftover fragments of her soul had a sudden reaction. It wasn’t rejection-it was… resonance.”
“Resonance?” Margaret’s heart started racing.
Primo said, “Your soul genetics are an almost perfect match. The system’s standard protocol has always been soul overwrite-your soul completely replaces the leftover fragments of her consciousness. But none of it went to plan. It totally deviated from the script.”
“So what really happened?”
“Fusion. The second your souls touched, they merged on a deep level-all on their own. No dominant soul, no one consuming the other. It’s like… two drops of water falling into the ocean. You can never tell which one was there first, and which one came later.”
The bedroom was so quiet that Margaret could hear her own heartbeat,
