Tyrone blinked. “What did you just say?”
“Twenty-three million credits,” Quentin repeated, word for word.

“What did you even buy?” Tyrone ground out through clenched teeth, the amused glint in his green eyes completely shattered.
“Stuff she wanted. Eight high-grade spirit plants, all the spiritual power raw stone blind boxes, and one spirit crystal.” Quentin paused, then added flatly, “Donated some to the orphanage, too.”
Tyrone rubbed the bridge of his nose and let out a long, heavy sigh.
Still—if it put Ms. Greene in a good mood? The money… is worth it.
“Try to rein it in next time.” Tyrone clapped Quentin on the shoulder.
Quentin gave him a blank look. “As long as she’s happy.”
Tyrone’s hand froze mid-air.
The night wind rustled through the ginkgo tree in the courtyard, leaves brushing together with a soft swish. Margaret sat at the stone table, twisting the blue spirit crystal between her fingers.
Tyrone and Cheiron were still cross-referencing intel files. The soft rustle of turning paper stood out sharply in the quiet yard.
“How’s it looking on Prime Planet right now?” Margaret asked casually. Her tone gave nothing away, but her fingers tightened slightly around the crystal.
Tyrone set his pen down, his green eyes sliding over to her. He’d been moping about blowing all that cash and letting Quentin take all the credit-now he had the perfect chance to prove his worth.
At the question, he pushed his data pad aside and stood, stretching his arms over his head.
“You wanna find out?” Tyrone kicked his chair back out of the way. “Come on, I’ll show you something. The Stillstar Galaxy’s got a full-coverage jamming field. Regular Holo-bracelets can’t send a signal out. We need to use a dedicated comms node,”
Margaret had expected a grungy underground workshop. But Tyrone led her past the side courtyard, down a pine-lined path, and stopped in front of a small yard behind the main estate.
The yard was small, ringed by waist-high bluestone walls. An old stone well sat right in the center, its cover thick with moss-in looked like it’d been abandoned for decades.
Tyrone walked over to the well and held his right hand palm down over the mouth of it.
A faint teal light seeped through the cracks in the moss, scanning the lines of his palm.
Then a second beam traveled up from his fingertips to the inside of his wrist. It read the biological data under his skin-pulse rate, spiritual power frequency, and his unique SSS-class gene sequence.

The moss around the well split slowly along hidden seams, revealing tiny optical lenses built into the stone walls. The well cover spun open silently-there was no water inside, just a floating elevator platform.
“After you.” Tyrone gestured politely, his smile eager and attentive.
The three of them stepped onto the platform, and it lowered slowly.
They descended for barely ten seconds before the platform settled with a soft jolt. In front of them was an extremely narrow alloy door-no handle, no buttons, plain white all over, with only a nail-sized iris scanner embedded in the right side.
Tyrone leaned in. A red infrared dot flickered across his pupil, and the alloy door slid open to either side.
Behind the door was a small, compact room.
Nothing like the old-fashioned architecture above ground-every wall was lined with silver-gray soundproofing panels, and the temperature was perfectly steady.
An arc-shaped control station sat in the middle of the room, with three floating holographic screens above it. They were in standby mode, only slow-moving blue pulse lines drifting across the displays.
Other than that, the room was spotless-no extra equipment, no clutter, no one else there.
“This is the black market’s real comms core. Tyrone walked up to the station and pressed his fingertip to the living metal surface. The second his body heat made contact, all three holographic screens lit up at
once.
Then he explained, “This is the only comms point in the entire Stillstar Galaxy that can punch through the jamming net. The coordinates are locked to my and Quentin’s biometrics. No one else can get in, even if they find the well.”
He dragged his finger in an arc across the console, and a list of comms frequencies popped up on the interface.
Tyrone ordered, “Patch me through to Prime Planet. Encrypted frequency, three layers of proxy routing.”
Two seconds later, the call connected.
Timothy’s face filled the entire screen-his blond hair was messy, and his blue eyes were bright and blazing.
