Chapter 214 A Hard Fight

Baar was silent for several seconds.

“Stand down main cannons. Full fleet withdrawal, five hundred light-years. Enter standby status.”

The entire command center snapped out of its stunned silence and scrambled to relay the orders.

Baar turned back to the screen, Margaret’s face reflected in his gold slit-pupiled eyes. “I’ll follow your lead.”

“Mm.” Margaret gave a quiet nod of acknowledgment. She paused, then asked, “How has your spiritual power been lately?”

Baar blinked. He clearly hadn’t expected her to ask that, not now.

“It won’t kill me.” He turned his head, discomfort plain in the set of his jaw. A faint flush crept up the edge of his car. “When… are you coming back?”

Margaret looked at that stubborn profile on the screen and felt an unexpected urge to laugh. “I’m on my way.”

“Good.” His throat bobbed, his words picking up speed. “Contact me if anything comes up.”

And with that, he cut the channel, quick and clean.

Margaret stared at the empty space where the projection had been. A quiet laugh escaped her before she could stop it.

Eileen had watched the entire exchange from the sidelines, coffee cup in hand. She tutted softly, half- amused. “The Federation’s mad snake, tamed and obedient. I’ve seen it all now.”

She rose and smoothed down her coat, her gaze carrying both appraisal and something that looked a lot like approval. “Get some rest. I’m going to check on those two boys from the black market.”

“I’ll come with you.” Margaret got to her feet.

The medical bay was on the lowest deck, the green light on the airlock glowing steadily.

Margaret pushed the door open, and the sharp scent of antiseptic and regenerative fluid met her immediately.

Quentin lay inside a medical pod, pale blue liquid submerging his body. His superficial wounds had mostly healed under the system’s medication, but internal damage and fractures still lingered. He hadn’t uttered a single sound about the pain in three days.

Tyrone sat on a folding chair beside the pod, a tube of high-grade nutrient supplement in his hand, tossing it idly into the air and catching it again. When he spotted Margaret, his eyes lit up and he rose to his feet in one smooth motion.

“Ms. Greene, Timothy’s mom is generous.” He gestured at the pod and let out a whistle, “Military-grade cellular regeneration fluid. A single tank costs the equivalent of a mid-sized warship on the black market.”

“How’s your spiritual power recovering?” Margaret walked to the pod, glanced at Quentin, then turned

back to him.

“Thanks to you, I’ll live,” Tyrone stepped closer, lowering his voice and leaning in toward her ear. “But a little black dragon told me it misses you.”

Margaret stared at him, expressionless.

Tyrone held her gaze for three seconds, then threw his hands up in surrender. “Kidding. Just kidding.”

The playfulness faded. He straightened, something more serious settling into his features. “When do we reach Prime Planet?”

“Two days.” Eileen strode into the room. “Timothy and Cheiror have already set the stage on Prime Planet. You two heads of the black market had better keep a low profile when we land. Don’t cause trouble for Margaret or me.”

Tyrone raised an eyebrow. “Lady Eileen, you can rest easy. We’re very well-behaved.”

Eileen gave a cold laugh and ignored him entirely, turning to Margaret. “Go get some sleep.” She paused, her voice softening by a rare degree. “What’s waiting on Prime Planet is a hard fight. You’ll need your strength.”
