Chapter 30 You’re Actually Pretty Kind

She raised an eyebrow, her tone lazy. “If he really gets matched to me, I’ll try to save him.”

Primo said, “That’s pure thirst, Host.”

“That’s called making good use of resources.” Margaret rolled her eyes. “It’s not like I can refuse the match anyway. I’d rather get a handsome guy than a stranger. “Call it strategic slacking. You wouldn’t understand.”

“Yes, yes, you’re right about everything,” Primo said, its voice obedient but clearly holding back a laugh.

“Besides, Margaret went on, “my three ex-husbands always said a C-class female like me didn’t deserve three S-class males like them. So then, how does an S-class like Kiran deserve to kill an SSS-class? I’m just standing up for justice.”

Primo’s voice suddenly turned serious, “Host, you’re actually pretty kind.”

Margaret froze.

Primo continued, “Seriously, You claim you’re just coasting, but the moment a hot guy’s on death’s door, your heart actually softens.”

Margaret pressed her lips together.

<i<span=””>>Who wouldn’t feel a pang for a dying pretty boy?!i>

She</i> backed out of that post, swiped her finger across the Holo-bracelet screen a couple of times, and tapped into the females-only section,

The page loaded, and the vibe changed completely. A pinned post sat at the very top of the homepage, its title in bold red letters, “All Females Must Read: Detailed Guide to Interstellar Female Benefits (Latest

Revised Edition).”

Margaret raised an eyebrow and clicked in. The post was long, packed with all kinds of rules and regulations. It looked like some helpful person had put a lot of effort into organizing it. She scrolled down and quickly found the information she was most interested in.

It read, “Female Monthly Subsidy Standards: D-class and below: 300 credits per month; C-class: 500 credits per month; B-class: 2,000 credits per month; A-class: 5,000 credits per month; S-class: 20,000 credits per month.”

Margaret stared at that “C-class: 500 credits per month” for three seconds. Then she made a deeply disgusted face.

Five hundred credits-who can live on that?

That was barely enough to scrape by. She wondered how much her monthly subsidy would be when she got upgraded to SSS-class.

She kept reading the post. It explained the rules in detail: females didn’t need to work, and the monthly subsidy was automatically deposited. This was the Beastmen Empire’s basic guarantee for females-to make sure all females could get by without worrying about survival.

She backed out of the post. Below the pinned posts were the daily threads of the females-only section. Margaret scrolled through a few. The vibe here was completely different from the main forum.

“B-class female looking for a cleansing job. Any experienced females have advice?”

“Does anyone know the hiring requirements for hospital cleansing departments?”

“I went to the hospital for cleansing today and got complimented by an A-class beastman. So happy.”

Margaret scrolled through them one by one and slowly began to understand the ecology of this section.

Females in this world really didn’t need to work. But for lower-ranked females-C-class and below-the monthly subsidy was barely enough to survive. It was hard for them to get fresh vegetables, new clothes, or a decent place to live,

So many low-ranked females who didn’t have mates supporting them-or whose mates were also low- ranked—still looked for jobs. But the jobs available to females were extremely limited. Almost all of them were cleansing-related.

Cleansing was a unique ability of females. Their spiritual power could soothe the violent emotions that male beastmen built up from battle and contamination. It could cleanse the pollution that accumulated in their bodies. High-ranked females could even actively release their spiritual power to help beastmen improve their combat abilities and extend their lifespans. In a world where insectoid invasions could break out at any time, the ability to cleanse was the rarest resource of all.

Margaret scrolled down. Soon, she saw a familiar name.

It was a post that read, “Crying for Lady Phoebe again today. Lady Phoebe went to the hospital for cleansing this week. Three days. Three whole days. She’s so kind.”
