Phoche is really working the PR angle. She goes to the hospital three days a week, and suddenly she’s a saint Back in my world, that’d make her nothing more than a so-so volunteer at best.”

“But she’s an S-class female, though. An S-class female doesn’t have to lift a finger and still pockets twenty grand in subsidies. She’s slumming it at the hospital, so of course they’re gonna sing her praises to the skies

Margaret couldn’t help but laugh at Primo’s biting tone. Where did her system learn to talk like that?

“Once we nail down your spiritual power level, you’ll be doing way more than she ever could.”

Margaret raised an eyebrow. “How so?”

“Group cleansing! An S-class female can only perform one-on-one cleansing, calming one male at a time. Sure, they’re a bit more efficient than lower-ranked females. But once you’re confirmed as a 35-class female, cleansing ten at once won’t even be a problem. Plus, group cleansing is way more efficient, and you’ll rake in a lot more credits too,” Primo said.

Margaret’s eyes lit up. “How much per session?”

“That depends on the pricing. Right now, an S-class fernale charges a minimum of 5,000 credits for a single cleansing. If you can cleanse ten at once, that’s fifty grand. Even if you only do two rounds a day, you’re looking at a hundred thousand.”

Margaret went quiet.

A hundred thousand a day? With the original owner’s five hundred a month allowance, how many years would it take to save up that much?

“Host, once your test results come out, this forum’s gonna be plastered with your name. And Phoebe’s face? It’ll be even glommier than the day she watched you walk into Mr. Jewett’s place.” Primo’s voice dripped with schadenfreude.

Margaret’s lips slowly curled into a smile. She didn’t really care about fame, but making Phoebe miserable? That brought her genuine joy.

Then another thought hit her,

“Primo,” she said, “What about the males? How do they get by? Especially the low-ranked ones.”

Primo paused, clearly not expecting that question.

“Males… mostly fight on the front lines. You’re living in a safe zone now, so it feels like this world is pretty secure. But that’s not the whole picture. This world has nasty insectoids, spiritual pollution, and feral beastmen roaming the wilds. A female who leaves the city’s safe zone could die at any moment.”

Margaret stayed quiet, waiting for more.

“And don’t think those high-ranked males just sit pretty in their safe zone offices. When the insectoids launch a full scale invasion, they go out and fight too. Including Mr. Jewett and Mr. Iverson.”

Margaret blmked. “Cheiron? On the front line?”

“Yeah. He’s a 35 class, one of the Empire’s top fighters. When the insectoids hit, he’s not hiding in the hospital pushing papers. Every high-ranked beastman has a duty to protect the Empire. That’s why this world respects high-ranked beastmen so much. It’s because their combat power actually makes a difference here.

“So low-ranked males and high-ranked ones too, their main income comes from killing insectoids on the front lines. Sure, a few stay behind in safe zones for support roles, but that’s rare.”

Margaret was quiet for a long time. Then she said, “So as a 35 class, could I go to the battlefield too?”

Primo froze. Several seconds passed before it answered, its voice glitching in a way Margaret had never heard before.

“Host… what did you say?”

“I said.” Margaret repeated, “me, front line, fighting, killing insectoids.”

“But…” Primo stammered. “You’re… a fernale. There’s never been a female on the front line. Ever.”

“So

The front line is way too dangerous for a female! What if you get hurt? What if an insectoid attacks you? What if…”

“Primo.” Margaret cut it off. “You said a 35-class female can do group cleansing for males, right?”
