Chapter 55 Who’s Respecting Whom
Chapter 55 Who’s Respecting Whom
Raikes’s brow knitted tighter.
In his head. Margaret was still that C-class female who used to run around trying to make him happy. Forget the fact that the Interstellar Forum was exploding with news of her becoming 35 class. Forget that he’d already sensed something off about her before the divorce even went through. Deep down, she remained that woman who’d pined after him and couldn’t move on even after he’d dumped her.
How dared she ignore his question?
“Margaret,” His voice dipped lower. “I’m speaking to you.”
Phoebe lingered to the side, her gaze darting between Raikes and Margaret. Her gentle expression flickered for just a moment before she smoothed it back into place. When she spoke, her voice came out soft and sugary. “Sis, Mr. Walker is just worried about you. Please don’t….
“What did you just call me?” Margaret cut in sharply.
Phoebe blinked in confusion.
“What did you just call me?” Margaret repeated, fixing her with a lazy stare.
Phoebe opened her mouth. Her expression froze for a split second, then quickly recovered to that gentle mask. “Sis…”
“Stop.” Margaret raised a hand to cut her off. “You know I’m an orphan, don’t you? Ms. James, are you also an orphan?”
Phoebe’s smile froze on her face, Raikes’s expression shifted too.
“Margaret.” Raikes’s voice went icy, “Ms. James was extending you a courtesy. What’s wrong with you?”
Margaret turned her head to face him.
“My attitude?” She echoed his words, the corner of her lip curling upward. “What about it? Did I say anything incorrect?”
Raikes’s brow furrowed into a tight knot. He fixed his gaze on Margaret, his revulsion barely hidden beneath the surface.
“You weren’t like this before,” he said, dripping with condescension.
“Think just because you’ve become 35 class, you’re something special?” His voice dipped lower. “Margaret, you know exactly what you used to be. Even if you’re 35 class now, that doesn’t erase the fact that you were once a worthless C class.”
Margaret held his stare in silence,
Raikes pressed on, his tone growing frostier. “And do you honestly believe those five matches actually want you for you? They’re only interested because you’re the only 3S-class female who can keep them alive. The moment someone better comes along…”

“Better?” Margaret cut him off, amusement creeping into her voice. “Raikes, did you fail language arts? You’re contradicting yourself. You just said I’m the only 35-class female. Where is this ‘better’ supposed to come from?”
“Hmph. Are you even really 35 class?” Raikes’s face hardened as he looked at her. “You didn’t fake that report with some shady method, did you?”
Margaret couldn’t help but laugh. “So you’re saying I fooled the Central Brain? And then I fooled five 3S- class males into playing house with me? If I had that kind of skill, that’d be way more impressive than being a 35-class female.”
Raikes choked on his own words. Phoebe, standing next to him, didn’t look too pleased either.
“Host!” Primo’s voice rang out in her head. “Hit him back! Keep going! Make him see who the real worthless one is!”
Margaret ignored Primo. She looked at Raikes and spoke in a flat tone. “So did you two come here for something today?”
Raikes’s face had turned purple. It took him a long moment to recover.
“No,” he said. his voice stiff, but noticeably less aggressive. “Just passing through.”
“Oh.” Margaret nodded. “Then I’m leaving.”
She turned around and walked away.
Phoebe panicked and took a step after her. “Sis.”
Margaret stopped. She turned her head back, her face cold.
“I said, don’t call me that.”
Phoebe’s eyes instantly turned red. Her lips trembled like she’d been deeply wronged.
Raikes saw this and his face darkened further. His grip on his composure was slipping.

“Margaret!” His voice shot up several notches. “Ms. James is an S-class female. Her calling you that is a sign
is an S-class female of respect. Don’t be so ungrateful!”
