Baar’s voice was rough and dry. “My apologies. I lost my composure.”

He loosened his grip on the small black snake. The creature let out two soft, hurt whimpers, then turned into a thin cloud of black smoke and vanished back into his spiritual realm,
Baar looked down at Margaret, his tone steady once more-a faint hint of warmth lingered in his words. “Thank you for your help. This means more to me than you know, Get some rest,”
With that, he turned around quickly, pulled open the door, and stepped outside, closing it behind him.
The hallway was dim. Baar had barely walked out the door when he ran into Timothy, who was just emerging from the room diagonally across the hall.
Timothy still held a bouquet of red roses in his arms. The cheerful smile on his face froze the moment he saw Baar leaving Margaret’s room.
He narrowed his eyes, his tone sharp and defensive-he looked just like a small beast guarding what it claimed as its own. “Why did you come out of my dear’s room?”
Baar did not even glance in his direction. He kept walking straight toward his own quarters.
Timothy stepped forward to block his path, his jaw tight with anger. “Hey, I’m talking to you! Did you sneak off to see my dear behind my back?”
Baar stopped in his tracks. He looked down at Timothy from above, his voice completely unemotional. “Move. She is my mate as well.”
Timothy let out a bitter laugh. He glanced at Baar’s closed door, then turned and headed for Margaret’s door, still clutching the roses.
If he can visit her, there’s no reason I can’t.
Back inside the room, Margaret leaned against the wall. Her mind kept replaying the strange way Baar had acted just now.
Margaret spoke in her mind. “Primo, what was going on with him exactly? Scales started growing on his arm. Was he starting to mutate? Or did I use the wrong purification method and make his condition worse?”
Primo paused for a short while before answering, its tone rather awkward, “Host, I looked through all the data on purifying spiritual power for male interstellar beings. The issue is you cleared out too much of his raging energy all at once.”
Margaret asked, “So what’s wrong with that? Isn’t that a good thing?”
Primo replied, “It is a good thing, but here’s the catch… the relief was so intense that he lost control of his half-beast transformation.”
Margaret’s face darkened.
That sounds so strange,

She ground her teeth and continued. “Speak plainly. What do you mean, it felt intense? Don’t make this sound like I did something inappropriate to him.”
Primo rushed to explain. “It’s nothing like that, host. Think about Baar’s situation. He’s an 3S-class being, constantly teetering on the brink of going berserk. It’s like carrying a massive boulder on your back every single day—you can barely breathe, and you’re always moments away from collapsing. You didn’t just lift that heavy boulder off him; you eased all his built-up tension, too. When someone goes from endless agony to pure comfort in an instant, anyone would feel light as air, even like their spirit has been lifted.”
Margaret listened to the analogy and finally understood the whole picture.
Males across the stars suffered nonstop torment from unstable spiritual power. When a high-ranking female performed deep purification for them, this kind of out-of-control reaction was quite common. Recalling Baar’s flushed checks and heavy breathing from earlier, the tips of her ears grew hot without her realizing it,
