Primo rambled on nonstop inside Margaret’s mind, recapping everything that had just taken place. “Host. Phoebe will never let this matter rest. You humiliated her publicly today and forced her to lose a large sum of credits—the two of you have become genuine rivals now. In the past, she only felt jealous of you and tried to build her own innocent image by putting you down. Right now, she burns with deep resentment toward you.”

Margaret walked at an easy pace and replied casually, “Since we’ve dropped all pretense of being polite, we might as well strike first.”

“Huh? What do you mean by striking first?” Primo fell silent for a second, and its electronic tone sounded genuinely confused.

Margaret rolled her eyes and spoke frankly in her mind. “I’m starting to think you don’t have any real practical functions. All you do is gossip with me all day long.”

Those words upset Primo immediately. “Host, you have totally misunderstood me. You just haven’t set out to explore more of this world yet. Once you unlock new star territories, the System Mall will be activated for you.”

It hurried to introduce its hidden features. “The mall carries an enormous range of goods. You can find high-tech products from interstellar civilizations, plus all sorts of rare items from cultivation realms, wild territories, and ancient eras. Also, have you forgotten our passive rule? We earn 0.01 points automatically every minute.”

Margaret’s memory was jogged by the reminder.

She asked in a casual tone. “How many points do I have in my account right now?”

Primo checked its data panel, and its tone turned awkward. “Your current total is exactly 288 points.”

Before Margaret could calculate the numbers herself, Primo added, “I need to let you know something. Earlier, you borrowed 500 points from the main system to break the gene suppression layer in your body. After precise calculation, you actually owe the main system 212 points at the moment.”

Margaret fell quiet.

She earned just 14.4 points each day with the 0.01 points per minute rate. It would take her half a month to pay off the debt. She pushed the thought aside soon after.

Margaret had no urgent items to buy lately. Unlocking the System Mall would also require traveling to distant star regions and going through extra trouble. She preferred to take life easy and avoid unnecessary work. Using the system might also lead to awkward questions if anyone found out, so she chose not to rely on it unless she had to.

Seeing that Margaret stayed quiet, Primo circled back to the main topic. “So, host, what exactly do you plan to do about Phoebe?”

Margaret ignored the endless chatter in her head. She stopped walking and turned to look at Cheiron beside her.

Cheiron walked on her right, and they kept a comfortable distance-close enough to talk freely, yet not

overly intimate. He wore a well-fitted dark uniform. His tall, strong frame carried the natural aura of a born leader. He had cooperated seamlessly with her when facing the media earlier, and Margaret gained a new view of him because of that.

Cheiron noticed her gaze. He turned his head and looked at her with calm gray eyes. “Is there something you need?”

Margaret lifted her chin and spoke in a serious tone. “This is work-related, Mr. Jewett. Since Ms. James is starting her position at Central Hospital tomorrow, I suggest the hospital arrange a complete pre- employment physical for her. Make sure they run an especially detailed test on her spiritual power.”

Cheiron saw through her intention at once and asked directly, “Do you suspect there is something wrong with her spiritual power?”

Margaret held out both hands in a casual gesture. She could not tell him that her system had detected wildly unstable spiritual power fluctuations within Phoebe.

She made up a simple excuse. “It’s just a woman’s intuition. We’d better prepare for the worst. If her spiritual power suddenly collapses while she’s on duty, would that count as a work injury or a medical emergency?”

Cheiron looked down at her and let out a soft laugh.

“Ms. Greene, every 3S-class male is born with the ability to sense other people’s spiritual power,” Cheiron explained gently, his tone warm like a teacher talking to a student. “That said, this ability only picks up a general energy level and direction. It can never match the precision of professional equipment. I used this ability on you the very day we first met.”
