That was the first thing I felt from him when I woke up. He had carried me back to the room after seeing me awaken. Even now, I found it hard to believe that I had fallen into a coma–or maybe had just been sleeping- for a whole month without waking up. During those weeks I was unconscious, a lot had happened, especially hearing how Alexander hit Faye, which led to Faye bleeding.
Then she gave birth prematurely and her brain was affected–so much so that she had become unstable, while Alexander only got worse after fighting with someone. Coby had used his condition to remove him from his position as Alpha because he was no longer of sound mind to lead.
When the council learned about this, they immediately approved it, and I heard my name was put forward right away. All the members of the Crescent Moon Pack protested that they wanted me as their Alpha instead -the one to lead them.
I sighed helplessly. It seemed I didn’t need to lift a finger anymore and could finally relax. After all, the one who caused me the most trouble had ruined his own life after destroying someone else’s.
I didn’t pity them at all. We all have the freedom to choose. Whether we choose the right path or not is up to each individual. It’s their decision to make, and even if someone tells you to do something, it’s still up to you whether you listen or not.
However, what worried me was the baby–but since Coby stepped up to take care of it, I was sure it would be fine.
“Little wolf…”
I snapped back to reality and saw Lucien leaning on my chest, pressing his ear as if listening to the beat of my heart.
I reached out and gently patted his head. “I’m sorry I worried you. I didn’t know it would take months for me to wake up.”
Lucien shook his head and grasped my hand, intertwining his fingers with mine. “It was out of your control. Thank you for waking up–I thought I’d have to find another physician to try to wake you again.”
I chuckled helplessly, my heart filling with warmth. “I heard you went to the neighboring packs to get their physicians to check on me.”
“At first, I thought you were just tired, so when you slept for one day, I didn’t overthink it. But when you didn’t wake the next day, I panicked. Every day, every week, I became more afraid something was wrong with you, but no one knew what it was. The physicians and I were helpless since they couldn’t find anything wrong with you,” Lucien said gently.
I could feel how scared he had been. I could almost imagine him checking if my heart was still beating every second, every hour, and every day.

Chapter 141
“You fed me your blood, didn’t you?” I guessed, knowing him all too well.

As expected, Lucien nodded. “I gave you my blood every day, hoping you’d wake up, but… I’m just glad you finally woke up after a month of sleeping.”
A small smile curved my lips as I pulled him into a hug. Then I cupped his cheeks and looked him in the eye.
“I missed you too, Lucien. Thank you for waiting,” I said, leaning in to kiss him on the lips with a smile. “Next time, just kiss me on the lips if I’m still sleeping.”
His eyes darkened as he grasped the back of my head and kissed me again. This time it was rough and urgent, as if he wanted to take my breath away, to claim me wholly. But I didn’t pull away or protest.
I wrapped my arms around his neck, responding to every one of his kisses.
Finally, when I was breathless, he pulled back but kept his forehead resting gently on mine.
“I was so afraid you’d leave me…” his voice was hoarse as he met my gaze.
Something inside me twisted. I leaned forward and kissed him again. “As long as I’m alive, I won’t leave you.”
He hugged me tightly, burying his face in my neck. “I won’t let you go even if you don’t want me anymore.”
I laughed helplessly. This was the second time I’d seen him act this way, but I didn’t mind–in fact, I found it cute and endearing when he grew clingy.
“By the way, did the physicians really find nothing wrong with me? Sleeping for a month is not normal,” I changed the topic, looking at him.
Lucien sighed and shook his head. “All of them said the same thing–that there was nothing abnormal about your condition, you were just sleeping.”
I frowned.
I remembered what Kaya had said about my blood relatives, who finally woke up to get me.
I looked at Lucien, hesitating to tell him.
He saw I was opening my mouth and closing it again as if I wanted to say something but couldn’t bring myself to do it. Lucien squeezed my hand.
“What is it? Tell me.”
This time, I took a deep breath and repeated the same thing Kaya had told me, watching him frown as he listened.
“It seems you really are connected to the Dark Moon,” he concluded, making me pause and frown.
“Dark Moon? It sounds familiar, but I don’t really know about it,” I said, adding, “so why would the Dark Moon be related to my condition?”

Lucien shook his head. “I don’t know if they’re actually involved in what happened to you. But I suspect you might be tied to them.”
I frowned at him. “Tied? How?”
“That you were originally from that pack.”
I shook my head. “As far as I know, my parents came from the Winter Pack. I’ve never heard them mention the Dark Moon.”
Lucien sighed. “But members of the Dark Moon share certain traits–when they let their emotions get the best of them, their aura shifts, their eyes turn scarlet, and they become stronger, faster, even more violent. What happened to you in battle reminded me of the Dark Moon. I’ve witnessed them fight before, and you were just like them.”
Hearing this, my heartbeat quickened, and I tried to reject the idea. “But I’m sure my parents weren’t part of the Dark Moon. My father is a beta, second in command of the Winter Pack. He’s an orphan. My mother’s also an orphan. They met in the orphanage… and swore to each other they’d marry when they grew up.”
I looked at Lucien. “I don’t think they were lying to me.”
He gently patted my back as I leaned on him. “Hm, I know. But there were rumors the Dark Moon’s princess ran away to elope with a Beta from the Winter Pack. The Queen was enraged and disappeared from the public eye. The woman who eloped with the Beta was actually pregnant and gave birth soon after.”
My heart froze at his words. So, that’s why Lucien suspected I was originally from the Dark Moon—not just because he’d seen me transform into something like their members, but because the timeline and the story matched my background so well, even I found it believable.
