“Is the Luna alright?”

It was the cook. She must have seen us as we were about to head toward the garden. I could feel her lingering gaze on me- especially on the cloth covering my eyes–and hear the concern, mixed with a hint of wariness, in her voice.

I felt the Alpha’s arm tighten slightly around my waist. In response, I squeezed the hand I was holding, offering a small smile in his direction before turning my face toward the cook.

“Yes, I’m fine now,” I said gently. “My eyes have just become a bit sensitive, so I need to keep them covered for the time being.”

She let out a relieved breath. “That’s good. I’m glad to hear you’re doing well! She hesitated, then added warmly, “I’ve already prepared breakfast. Would you like to eat with the Alpha, Luna?”

I shook my head lightly. “We’ll eat later. I want to find my son first.”

Understanding dawned on her face. She clapped her hands softly. “Right, of course. You’ve just woken up.” Then she smiled. “The young Alpha is in the garden–with his new friend. I’ll head back to the kitchen.”

I nodded in thanks and offered my farewell. Guided by the familiar presence at my side, I made my way toward the garden -toward our son.

“She was just asking.” I helplessly said, pertaining to the cook’s question that made Lucien’s emotion drop.

“I know…” he murmured.

I sighed helplessly. “There would be a lot who would question the blindfold on my eyes and ask about it due to their curiosity but they don’t mean anything, they’re just curious.”

He hummed and didn’t say anything, but I know that he must not like it when others would look at the blindfold on my

eyes.

“It would be troublesome if some of the neighbouring packs would find out that the Luna of the Nightshade had lost her eyesight.” I sighed helplessly. “Who knows, maybe they would think that the Nightshade would weaken because of me and might try to infiltrate our pack.”

I was thinking about it earlier. If those people really found out that I temporarily lost my eyesight, those who had been eyeing our pack, not just the Nightshade but also the Crescent Moon Pack–these two large and powerful packs, would surely think that the pack’s balance finally cracked.

They would find ways to cause trouble, to make the crack bigger, until they finally found the chance to infiltrate and get through the crack they had created.

Survival to the fittest.

Only those who were strong, intelligent, and cunning can win.

If you show a slight weakness, they would target you to it.

Which is the reason why Lucien and I, had decided to not announce to everyone that we had an heir, a son. Otherwise, they would target our innocent child.

However, despite protecting our child and had to manipulate the course events, hiding completely that Lucien and I, had child together–it all shattered in one snap all because of the Nanny i hired.

A Luna that I thought was on our side and fully devoted herself to protect and take care of my son.

And now, for sure everyone finds out that the Nightshade and Crescent Moon Pack had a heir.

As if sensing my emotions, Lucien gently patted my back and caress roy hands. “Don’t worry, I will strengthen our pack and also, I might have to find a bodyguard for our child–it be better if he’s younger. After all, our son had just experienced being betrayed by an adult. It would not be easy for him to trust someone again after all what happened.”

I nodded, fully agreeing with the arrangement. “Speaking of bodyguards… why not consider the child our son calls his brother?”

I suggested. “Even without proper training, he managed to hold off three grown men just to let Archer escape. His will to survive is strong. He’s fit for it.”

To be honest, I was also suprised that he had managed to hold on that night. If I didn’t come, or even was late, I’m still sure that he can survive on his own.

Such a tenacious will to live was amazing.

To think that he was just eight years old yet he can hold onto it. There were no parts of him that haven’t been battered, some of them were past wounds, yet he still manage to held on.

If he would be okay with it, I would let him stay with Archer especially that Archer seems to like him.

His expression didn’t change, but his tone grew more measured. “His background is still unknown. I need to investigate him thoroughly before we even consider that.”

I frowned. “What do you mean his background is unknown?”

“While you were asleep, I had people look into him–his whereabouts, family ties, anything connected to him,” he said.

His brows slowly knitted together. “There was nothing.”

Nothing?

“It was as if someone had erased him from the world,” he continued quietly. “As if he simply appeared out of nowhere.”

A chill crept down my spine.

“And that’s exactly why we have to be careful,” he added, “Our enemies won’t just come for us anymore. Now that everything has been made public… they may start targeting our son.”

I tightened the grip on his hand and couldn’t help but let out a heavy sigh. Just what the hell is the background of that child.

“You haven’t interrogated him?” I asked.

“He just woke up yesterday and Archer never left his side. I couldn’t find the right timing.”

“What about Agatha?” I raised my brows.

“She’s still in the basement. She had been attempting to kill herself which is why I sent Nick to monitor her and they had chained her tightly aside that it prevents her from escaping, it also prevents her from commuting suicide to stop us from asking information from her.”

Chapter 181

Horing this, I nodded my head. It seeins that my schedule for today is already fully booked. After I met my child, later I would also see Agatha and ask her about who told her to kidnap Archrer–who their mastermind is.

If we can’t find that mastermind, who knows what it would do next time. They would probably come and seek our child again, which is why as much as possible, we have to get rid of the roots.

I was about to open my mouth again and asked about those kids I have save that night, when I heard a familiar voice, happily calling my name.

“Mama! You’re awake!”

“Take me to Archer,” I whispered to Lucien who was guiding me while walking.

The corner of my lips were still raised as Lucien guide me towards our son–well, he doesn’t need to, since Archer had already ran towards our direction and slammed on my legs, hugging me tightly.

‘Mama… I missed you so much…”

I felt his tears soak into my clothes as he buried his face against my legs, his small body trembling with each sob.

I released Lucien’s hand and bent down carefully, lifting my arms and reaching out into the empty space. For a brief second, my fingers found nothing–until I felt him clinging to me, hugging my legs tightly. Relief washed over me as I touched him at last.

I gently patted his head, my fingers combing through his soft hair.

‘I missed you too, Archer…” I replied softly.

“You slept for so long,” he cried. “I thought… I thought you didn’t like Archer anymore.”

My chest tightened..
