Chapter 183
Scarlett
Before Lucien could move to see Archer’s back legs to check the wounds, Archer had stopped us and spoke.
“It already healed,” he said. “My wounds usually took one day to heal without scars that’s why it easily heals whenever Nanny would punish me for not concentrating in reading or training.”
My heart felt as if it had been wrung dry.
I stood up and moved toward him, nearly bumping into the table if not for Lucien guiding me–but I didn’t care. I reached Archer and pulled him into my arms, sinking back onto the sofa as I held him tightly. Claude sat close on my right, silent, yet I could hear it in the way he breathed–slow, heavy, restrained. He was angry too.
“Why didn’t you tell us?” My voice broke as I gently rubbed Archer’s head. “I’m sorry… Mama and Papa are so sorry we couldn’t protect you. You suffered so much…”
He shook his head against my chest, burying his face into my neck. “It was nothing, Mama. I’m not angry. And… it didn’t hurt that much.”
I pressed my lips together.
How could it not hurt?
How could whipping a three–year–old ever not hurt? That woman Agatha… not just her crime was kidnapping my son but she also hurt her!
Just by thinking about it made my blood boil. I’m sure that both Lucien and I, were already thinking of not letting that woman off hook easily for the crimes she had committed. She even used her background, creating a pitiful persona to infiltrate the base, getting our trust in those whole three years and hurt my son.
How many times had she hurt my son in those three years huh?
It made my whole body tremble in fear, guilt, and anger whenever I tried to imagine how we easily left our son to her, trusting her about our son–only to find out she was hurting him.
No parents could tolerate this.
“I’m really fine now, Mama,” he continued softly. “Back then, I was scared you’d be disappointed in me—for not listening to Nanny, for being a bad boy. That’s why I didn’t tell you. And.., I felt sorry for her because of her past.“[
My heart clenched painfully.
I tightened my arms around him, pulling him closer. “How could we ever be disappointed in you?” I said gently. “We’re proud of you. We always will be.
I brushed his hair back, my voice steady despite everything. “If anything, all we want is for you to be carefree. To play when you want to play. To laugh, to enjoy yourself. As long as you grow up healthy, kind, and happy–that’s enough for us. We don’t ask for anything more.”
I felt his body stiffen for a moment in my arms.
Then, slowly, he relaxed–as if something heavy had finally been lifted from his chest.

Chapter 183
Really he asked quietly. “Even if… in the future, I decide I don’t want to take over the pack as Alpha?”
I chuckled softly. “Of course.” There wasn’t a hint of hesitation in my voice. “Mama and Papa will take care of the pack. And when it’s time for us to step down, we can pass it on to someone reliable-”
“I’m just kidding, Mama,” he said with a small laugh. “I’ll take care of the pack when I grow up. I’ll work hard for it.”
I felt Lucien step closer. He reached out and ressed a hand on Archer’s head, his touch firm and warm.
“Good,” he said. “Your Mama and I will guide you.”
I felt Archer reach out to my right side and pull Claude to us. The corner of my lips raised as I also opened my arms, my right hand reached out and patted Claude’s head and despite that he didn’t like his head being in touch, he remained obedient and didn’t say anything.
“Mama, can Claude stay here with me?” Archer suddenly spoke as he went to Claude side, grabbing his hand.
I paused, raising my head and instinctively looking up at Lucien.
I felt his hand on the back of my neck, gently incircling it. His touch almost sent electrons to my body that I couldn’t bite but bit my lips and pinched his arms that were touching the back of my neck.
He let out a soft chuckle and took back his hands. “It’s up to you. You decide, little wolf. I don’t have much to say whether he would stay here or not.”
I could feel gazes directed to me on my right side coming from my dearest son.
“Mama, can you please?”
I let out a soft chuckle as I shifted my ‘gaze‘ as their direction.
“I have no problem in letting Claude stay here. However…” I paused. “Is Claude willing to stay here?”
Archer shifted his line of gaze back to Claude. “Are you willing? You’re willing right? You promised to be my brother!”
“Since when did I promise that?” Claude rubbed Archer’s head and I could feel his gaze on me. “I won’t cause trouble for the pack. Please let me stay here. I will protect and take care of Archer for you.”
I let out a soft chuckle. “What about your family? Will they not get nervous or anxious if you were gone for a long time?”
He brushed off that question easily and answered with nonchalance. “It doesn’t matter. They don’t dare whether I live or die anyway. As long as I remain obedient and won’t cause them trouble, they won’t care what I would dof
Hearing this, I couldn’t help but frown. It seemed that the condition of his family ties… aren’t that strong nor he had good memories with those families.
Yet I couldn’t ask anything about it for fear of opening his wound and besides, it was not my position to ask him questions.
However, Archer was different.
‘Claude, is your family bad?” His voice were innocent, clearly was asking those question out of curiosity.
I was about to open my mouth to stop Archer from asking questions, thinking that Claude might not like it–however, I was just thinking too much.
He doesn’t really mind those questions. Especially when asked by Archer.

Chapter 183
Yeah, they are
“Then…”
“Of course, I wasn’t good either,” Claude sneered. “The more they tell me to be obedient and not embarrass them, the more I want to do so.”
Hearing this, I realized I was just thinking too much.
I stood up and a warm hand naturally wrapped around my waist, pulling me closer to him.
“Kids, do you want to stay here?” Lucien suddenly called them out.
I could feel their gazes fell on me.
“Where are you two going?” Archer asked.
“To the study,” Lucien answered, turning to look at them. “Do you two want to come with us?”
I expected them to nod and follow, but Archer was the first to shake his head.
