My vision started flickering despite that I couldn’t see and I felt the heaviness of my eyes as if it drift to my dreamland. Yet, I fought back.

The more I fought back, the more I felt my body started to burn. It was the same burn when I used my abilities that night when Archer was kidnapped and I raided their base.

I gritted my teeth, taking a deep breath and ignore all the signs of pain in my body, trying to appear normal in front of them.

“Mama, are you really okay?” Archer asked, worry lacing his voice as we sat on the sofa. “I heard some bad guys tried to get you.”

I nodded, gently patting their heads. “I’m okay. Your uncle Kane was there to protect me.”

Claude, who had been silent until now, finally spoke. “Are they targeting you because of me?”

I paused, shifting my gaze to him and letting out a soft smile as I ruffled his hair. “No, they’re not targeting me because of you. I told you–they’ve been after the Nightshade even before we met you. So rest assured, it’s not because of you.”

Right, that man clearly says he wanted to send me to their lord. It clearly means I am their target aside from the kids.

However, as if I would let them get my children. I don’t know their reason why they target the kids, but if they dared to hurt the kids, I’ll hunt them until the ends of this world.

Archer squeezed Claude’s hand. “Don’t worry, Mama and Papa are strong. They’ll defeat the bad guys!”

I couldn’t help but chuckle at their innocence. “Indeed, we will,” I nodded, playing along. “Then, would it be okay if your uncles temporarily watch over you both? They’ll make sure you’re safe without interfering with your play.”

Claude was the first to nod in agreement. “Then we’ll stick with Mr. Shun, Luna. We don’t mind–it’s for our safety anyway.” I raised my head, looking at Shun across the table, and smiled. “Then I’ll leave the kids in your hands, Shun.”

“Don’t worry, Luna. I’ll do my best to protect them,” Shun said solemnly.

Just then, Kane stood up, and I was about to ask what was wrong when a familiar embrace wrapped around all three of us.

Chapter 199

It was Lucien. Still in his armor, I could even scent blood on him, though I knew it wasn’t his. He must have rushed here as soon as he heard what happened, not even stopping to change or wash.

“Are you all okay?” he asked, scanning us from head to toe to ensure there were no injuries.

I smiled, nodding. “We’re all good. Kane and Shun were here to protect us.”

Lucien’s gaze softened as he turned to them in relief. “Thank you.”

“It’s nothing. Alpha. I didn’t do anything,” Shun helplessly said. “In fact, it was only the Luna that was attacked and Kane was there to save her.”

Upon hearing this, Lucien turned his head and looked at me.

Before he could ask further, I cut him off. “I’m really fine.”

However, he didn’t speak and grabbed my wrist, making me frown and hiss from the pain.

“I’m okay, it’s just a broken bone. It will heal in no time.” I answered, smiling at them.

Before they could speak, I stood up, patting Claude’s head. “Can you go back to your room first with Archer?”

Although he didn’t answer anything, he nodded his head. “Okay.”

I felt him grabbed Archer’s hand that was about to cling to me. “Let’s go. Don’t worry, the Alpha is there to treat your mama. She will be alright.”

Hearing him gently coax my son, the corner of my lips raised and couldn’t help but rubbed their head.

I had no choice but to swallow it, despite myself. Metallic and sweet, his blood lingered on my tongue.

Fuck… what the hell am I becoming? I felt helpless at this situation.

Heat coiled in me, unbearable, and I tugged at my clothes, craving the icy relief of a cold bath. Pain and desire tangled together in every nerve.
