I found out that Amanda was Lucien’s cousin. When he returned from outside to the packaging plant, a faint frown formed between his brows. His gaze swept over Kathleen and me, and he asked in a low, stern voice, “What happened?”
Kathleen crossed her arms and sneered, her eyes full of mockery and reproach. She spoke directly to Lucien, “Isn’t it because you gave Amanda the wrong signals that she keeps thinking she’s your Luna? But don’t worry, Scarlett has already handled it perfectly. If you show up at the banquet tonight holding Scarlett’s hand, maybe Amanda will finally wake up and let go of her ridiculous fantasy.”
Lucien’s brows furrowed, and he replied coldly, “I never made any promises to Amanda.”
Kathleen pursed her lips and snorted, “But you never clearly rejected her either, did you? She’s been hung up on you for years, and you let her keep believing whatever she wants. Can you honestly say you’re not responsible?”
Lucien was silent for a moment. He didn’t deny it. His gaze gradually sharpened and deepened.
Kathleen lifted her chin proudly and continued, “See? You can’t refute it. But at least things have turned around now. Like I said, walk in tonight with Scarlett, and Amanda will finally get the message.”

Lucien said nothing, staring calmly at Kathleen for a few seconds before speaking slowly, “Kathleen, you can go now.”
Kathleen raised both hands, a mischievous smile flashing across her face. “Of course, I’m leaving. But you’d better keep yourself under control. It’s been a long time since you’ve been on an actual date.”
Lucien narrowed his eyes dangerously, shooting her a warning glare. Kathleen giggled and left the room.
Now it was just Lucien and me. His presence filled every corner of the room, making my breath quicken.
What happened to your wolf?” Lucien suddenly asked, his voice low and restrained. “I can’t feel her.”
My heartbeat jumped. I looked at him in surprise, trying to hide my panic, but in the end, I chose to be honest.
You said you can’t feel her… Neither can I,” I whispered, my voice nearly swallowed by the heat in the air between us. “Ever since Faye came back… it’s like something shattered inside her. She went silent and hasn’t responded to me since.”
Lucien’s brows tightened. He leaned in a little closer. “When did it start?”
That night, when I found out they were…” I paused, my throat closing up, “they were having sex behind my back.”
Lucien’s gaze darkened instantly. “That bastard Alexander.”
‘Your wolf suffered a shock. The bond took too much damage,” he explained.
“Will you change your decision because of it?” I suddenly looked up, my voice trembling. “Will you still choose me as your Luna? Even if I’m… a wolf–less woman now?”
He was silent for a few seconds, his gaze burning into mine. Then he said slowly, “I can still sense your woll’s presence, just… faintly. I believe we just need time.”
I was stunned. “You believe Kaya will come back?”
Lucien nodded. “I believe she will–as long as you completely reject Alexander.”

Chapter 20
Lucien’s eyes were slowly filling with rage and deep sorrow as he listened. He cursed under his breath.
“I agree.” I sighed softly, my tone gradually firming. “That’s also why I’m planning to divorce him.”

His gaze drifted from my face to my neck. He lifted my chin gently with his fingers and said in a husky voice, “Why did you choose someone like Alexander?”
I opened my eyes, my throat tightening. I gave a bitter laugh, my gaze drifting away.
‘You want the truth?” I asked. He nodded.
‘I was just coming of age then. It was my first time leaving the family and entering the alliance’s outer training camp. It was my first time being allowed to participate in politics as an independent individual… and my first time being attacked.” My voice was slow, as if carefully recalling a long–lost dream. “That night, some members of the Winter Pack cornered me in the woods under the pretense of a test. I thought I was going to die. Until he appeared.”
Alexander came in with three guards. He defied orders to save me. He said I reminded him of his sister. He said he couldn’t stand to see me die in the hands of those beasts.”
‘So you fell in love with him?” Lucien asked softly.
I nodded with a bitter smile. “From that moment on, I only wanted him. He was the first hero I ever saw. Every time we met afterward, he gave me the illusion–we were allies, soulmates. I didn’t care when he belittled me in front of others, or when ne dismissed me in meetings, or that he never took me to important events.”
What did you care about, then?”
The way he looked at me.” I closed my eyes, my voice trembling. “That one look… held everything I ever wanted. Even if it was just for a second.”
Lucien said nothing. His fingertip grazed over my mark again. His breathing grew heavier. I didn’t dare look into his eyes, afraid of seeing contempt or pity.
But he only whispered, “He doesn’t deserve you.”
His words were soft but heavy. My heart pounded wildly under his gaze. I didn’t know what I was hoping for. But right now, I just wanted to drown in his burning gaze and gentle touch, ignoring all consequences.
I shook my head. “No, I just want to leave him. I’m not trying to compare.”
His gaze drifted from my face to my neck. He lifted my chin again and said in a husky voice, “Let me see your mark.”
My heartbeat surged. I trembled slightly and lowered my head, exposing the mark on my neck.
Lucien leaned in slowly. His hot breath brushed across my skin, making me shiver. He suddenly stuck out his tongue and slowly licked my mark.
