It has been five days since Lucien raided the Monteros, and until now, there have been no updates about him or the warriors –whether they succeeded, whether they need reinforcements, or anything at all. The silence feels heavier with each passing day. I can’t help thinking about him constantly, and worry has begun to seep into my bones.

Still, I’ve tried to keep myself busy while he’s away, anything to quiet my thoughts and stop them from spiraling. I refuse to let myself overthink or question whether staying behind–whether choosing not to go with him–was the right decision.

“Still no updates from the Alpha?” I heard Kathleen ask, her brows furrowed as she walked beside me.

These days Kathleen had been with Draco–Draco decided to not go back to his pack since it had been managed by his shadow guards and unless his subordinates would contact him out of emergency, he won’t go back.

And these days, I could tell that Kathleen was doing well. Her complexion was getting rosier and everything about her was glowing. Ever since that night when Draco had come to the Nightshade to talk and seek for his beloved Luna, Kathleen seemed to change overnight.

Just by those looks, I could tell that they had talked throughoutly and had solved their misunderstandings.

I shook my head, letting out a heavy sigh. “There’s still none. I’m trying to hold myself back from seeking him to see if he was fine or not.”

“You can do that.”

I paused, looking at her whose gaze were firm. “What do you mean?”

She chuckled, patting my shoulder. “You can go to the Monteros–go to your Alpha and check whether he’s okay or not.”

“But the pack…”

The corner of her lips raised as she pinched my nose, making me scowl. “Silly Sca. Have you forgotten about whom you can trust to run the Nightshade? As for the Crescent Moon, it was run by Coby right? If Coby would ask for help here directly, I would also use everything in my hands to help him.”

Hearing this, I paused. Warmth surged my blood as I couldn’t help but tremble.

“Y… You don’t want to go back with Draco?” I softly asked.

Kathleen laughed, shaking her head as her eyes glint in mischievousness. “I already talked about it with Draco that night. I told him what he would do if I want to stay here in the Nightshade Pack. Do you know what he answered to me?”

I looked at her, waiting for her to answer.

She chuckled. “He said that if I want to stay here, he will also stay here–he will convince the Alpha and Luna to take him in.”

Before I could open my mouth to speak, she sighed and her brows furrowed.

“Besides, I still don’t want to go back after what those elders and his packs did,” she sneered and rolled her eyes. “For what? To get trashed again that I don’t deserve the Luna’s position because I can’t give the Alpha an heir? That I’m not worthy? Going back there is like seeking depression.”

After cursing, she looked at me with reassuring smile. “That’s why we decided to stay here even if the Alpha or the Luna would kick us out.”

Although she says she does not want to go back to the Ironfang because of the elder’s words, I know that the reason she doesn’t want to go back was because of me.

She was worried that I would have no one to talk to or lean onto while Lucien was away and don’t have any one to monitor

I let out a sigh helplessly. “Fine. Do what you want then. However, I have to wait for a week before deciding to head to Monteros to check up on Lucien.”

Maybe I’m just being paranoid since Lucien had never been away from me ever since we got together and this was the longest time that he was away from me, that was why I cannot help but feel worried.

“Why wait for a week?” she asked.

“It was the deadline that we set with each other back then. If there is still no news about each one of us for a week, we would head towards each other–this only applies to spying, raiding, or infiltrating the enemy’s camp.”

We had talked about this before and I was the one who suggested it. Back then, I was going to infiltrate the enemy by disguising myself as part of their servants. If I don’t give him any updates within those weeks, he is free to wedge a war, infiltrate, raid, or confront the enemies for as long as he likes.

However, if for an instance I didn’t tell him about my plan of raiding, and he found out that I wasn’t by his side, he is free to search for me.

It’s only limited if we tell each other about our plan.

Which is why I have to wait for a week before heading to the Monteros to check on him.

I rubbed my temples. I shouldn’t have propose that idea before. If it weren’t for this idea, I would have already gone to find Lucien in the hands of the Monteros.

But at the same time, part of me believes that he would take them down.

I let out a heavy sigh, looking up at Kathleen. “I’m going to the Montero two days from now if Lucien won’t come back. I will leave the Nightshade and the kids to the both of you.”

If I leave the kids to them, I can be assured that they would do anything to protect them and besides, Alpha Draco is here to lend a hand plus Kane was also protecting the kids–he was already doing good and had already took off the white gauge on his head and his body.

And maybe it was because Lucien had raid the Monteros, there were no troubles or any assasins that come to our pack. Just rogues in the border who loves to seek death which I also gave them what they seek for.
