Chapter 229

Scarlett

“Please take care, Luna”

“Please come back along with the Alpha and the others”

The patrols lowered their heads in unison, bowing deeply before me while they remained in their posts, guarding the gates.

For a brief second, I saw not warriors-but families. Fathers. Brothers. Sons.

I straightened.

“I will.” I said firmly. “I will return-with the Alpha and every warrior they took from us.”

I pressed my lips and looked at them with resolute expression. “While I’m away, I’ll be entrusting you the Nightshade.”

Their fists struck their chests in salute. “Leave it to us, Luna! We will protect our pack with our life!”

I nodded my head, sighing in relief seeing that they would do their best for the pack before I turned to the three warriors behind me.

“Let’s go.

Without another word, we turned our backs on our pack and plunged into the forest, taking the shortcut that leads easily to the Montero Pack from the North Wing.

We moved fast as we could, trying to maximize the time. My pulse hammered and my heart thumb loudly as if it wanted to burst from my

heart

Whatever you’re gonna do, do not use the ability of the Dark Moon.’

Kaya suddenly appeared in my consciousness, already waking up from her slumber.

I bit my lips. I know. I’m trying hard to not use it. I promised Lucien’

Besides, I don’t want to worry him anymore-not just him but also our son. Who knows when I would wake up if I would use it again. If I act recklessly again, they would be the one who will ended up worrying about me.

Despite that I wanted to go to him-to hurry up and save hips, to see his condition, to know how he doing, and… to see if he’s still alive right-no, he’s still alive and I’m sure of it

I cannot allow to let the negativity of my thoughts clouded my judgement and these negative thoughts would only ended up consuming me.

I cannot falter or stop now. Otherwise, if I do, what would happen to Lucien? To the kids? To my people? To my pack?

Young man, do you us to give you a lift? We’ll be moving fast. Can you keep up?

I snapped from my thoughts when I heard Jerry spoke one of the warriors I had brought with me, asked as his gaze landed onto Claude who was following with us

However, Claude didn’t awer nor spared hud a look.

Instead, be accelerated ahead

the three warriors who had seen this, gasped, eyes widened and couldn’t help but chuckle as they shifted into their wolf forms mid-stride, bones snapping and reforming seamlessly before powerful wolves took their place-massive, muscular, built for speed.

They ran ahead, following Chaude who ran faster ahead of us without sparing us Nook.

He dashed forward, feet barely touching the forest floor. When a fallen trunk blocked the path, he stepped onto it and sprang upward, landing lightly on a thick branck above. He ran along it with fluid balance before pushing off again-flipping cleanly through the air and landing ahead of the wolves without breaking momentum.

He used the trees as stepping stones-branch to trunk, trunk to rock-his movements sharp and precise, like a shadow slicing through the forest. Silent. Efficient. Controlled.

Like a trained assassin.

Relief loosened the tightness in my chest.

I, too, was also worried that he might not keep up so I deliberately controlled my pace for fear that he might get lost, however, he proved me wrong.

He proved us wrong.

Seeing him made me think that the Montero was raising a monster. A wolf who will dominate in the future with strength, power, and intelligence.

Is this why the Alpha of the Montero wanted to kill him badly? Afraid that his son would suprass him in terms of skills?

It also made me stop to wonder about how he had managed to escape from the Montero and how he had survived despite the killing attempts of his own father. Given with the scars all over his body, any other children who have those scars would surely die from either blood loss, pain, and from the wound.

Yet he persists.

Not just that, he was even younger when he experienced those things.

If he become an adult, he would truly become terrifying.

However, at the same time, if he remained as our ally, he would become a great help to Archer.

“Rogues ahead!”

I snapped back from my thoughts when I heard Claude shouted meters away from us.

“Be alert and stay safe!” I commanded as I scanned the area.

Halfway through the forest, they emerged from the shadows without warning, their scent foul and aggressive. I could even smell their scent mixed with iron as their mouth was dripping with saliva as their eyes glowed, being reflected by the sunlight.

There were almost twenty of them that had stopped us from going further.

I was about to make a move when I saw Claude had already reacted first–not wasting any moment.

I watched as his hand slipped into his pocket and pulled out a knife. He leapt using a rogue’s shoulder as leverage and in one swift motion, slit the man’s throat mid-air. Blood sprayed across the leaves as the body collapsed before it even hit the ground.

Chapter 229

We got tu time to admire hits aggressive combat when I saw another rogue lunged from behind him.

I immediately move, my blade already flashed as I dashed behind him, cutting clean across the attacker’s neck before he could touch Claude.

“Stay sharp,” I ordered.

The three warriors growl echoed in the forest as they rushed, tearing into their enemies in wolf, fangs sinking into flesh, claws ripping through torsos. Claude moved like a phantom-ducking beneath swings, slicing tendons, striking vital points with terrifying precision for a ten-year-old.

I covered his blind spots.

He covered mine.

Within minutes, the forest floor was littered with bodies.

Those almost twenty rogues were covered in their own blood, lying onto the ground and their bodies would become the fertilizer of the plants.

I wiped the blood from my dagger and scanned the area. Seeing that there were no other rogues that was hiding, waiting to lower our guards to ambush us, I spoke.

“We must move now!”

Time waits for no one. We have to hurry as soon as possible.

Anyone who dares to stop and make trouble with us while we were on our way to the Montero, will have to be wiped out by our hands again.

The three warriors growled in their wolf form in agreement as they ran, moving ahead.

We resumed running ahead.

This time, as we run deeper, I noticed the strain in the warriors’ movements. Their breathing grew heavier. Sweat soaked their fur even in wolf form, yet they tried to keep up with my pace.

Seeing this, I lessened my pace and suggested. “Let’s first for a minute.”

One of them shook his massive head immediately. After shifting back briefly, he said, “We can hold on, Luna, We won’t become baggage and besides, we have to hurry before something happens to the Alpha. We cannot afford to rest at this

moment.”

The others nodded firmly. “Just don’t mind us, Luna. We will follow you behind.”

As they said that, their eyes flickered toward Claude ahead of us.

I could tell what they were thinking.
