The Supreme Hall was already packed when I stepped inside. They, too, were looking forward to the conclusion of this session, eager to see whether I would successfully break my bond with Alexander, or whether Alexander would continue to brand me as his Luna while keeping his mistress by his side.

Go on and nail it. I assure you, you will break the bonds with him,I heard Lucien’s whisper in my ear. The majority of the people here are on your sideincluding the Head Council.”

I looked at him with wide eyes, glancing around to see if anyone had overheard us, but everyone else was too busy gossiping with each other while the Head Council and other elders were deep in conversation.

I narrowed my eyes at him. Did you do something, Lucien? You didn’t threaten the Head of Council, did you?

He pouted and put on a hurt expression. How could you doubt me like this, little wolf?

I rolled my eyes at his act and kept my voice low. Otherwise, how do you know that the Head of Council is on my side? He’s someone who never accepts bribes and remains neutral and unbiased, you know!

Lucien chuckled. His hand rested gently on my head, patting it lightly while keeping his eyes on me. You underestimate yourself, little wolf. Hold your head high. I didn’t do anything. You did all the work.

I looked at him, my throat tight. I opened my mouth to ask more, but the council had already called us to our seats to resume the session from yesterday.

Across the hall, I saw Alexander standing and waiting, every line of his body bristling with arrogance and anger. Faye was glued to his side, always clinging to him as if she was afraid someone might steal him away. She held her head high, as if proud to have been chosen by Alexander.

I rolled my eyes as Alexander stepped away from Faye, and we returned to our seats.

The Head of Council lifted his hand, and all the murmurs, gossip, and discussions that could disrupt the session died down.

Today, the bonded wolves will speak of their lives together, his voice rang out. The truth will be heard, nothing less. Reveal what you wish to be revealeddon’t hold back. Let us hear your thoughts, your past, your pain.

His sharp eyes shifted to me. Scarlett, once Luna of Crescent Moon, step forward and let us hear your words and pain one last time.

My legs wanted to give way, but I forced them to steady. I could feel the loud thump of my heart, almost deafening me. I swallowed my nervousness and fear, and slowly walked to the center with as much confidence as I could muster.

Speak,” the elder commanded.

My voice was softer than I wanted at first. The day when the rogues attacked our pack, my father sacrificed himself to protect me and make sure that I and the rest of our people would be safe, even if it cost his life. I was there, seeing how he fell, blood oozing from his chest, his eyes slowly dimming. He wanted me to get away, to run while the rogues searched for the wolves he had hidden. But I was stubborn. I didn’t want to live if it meant losing my father.

I took a deep breath. I went back. I got out. I went to him, and on his last breath, he even scolded me for being stubborn. It felt like karma. I watched my father die to protect ine one last time, with all his might, while a rogue tried to attack me. I thoughtI thought 1, too, would die. No…. I nearly chose to die right then, but I remembered how hard he fought to protect

me that last time.

But then, Alexander appeared. He was a hero in my eyes. I, who had just lost my last family member, had no one to lean on

and he said I could lean on him. He said I’d caught his eye and that if I helped him claim the Crescent Moon Pack and

make him Alpha, I would be his Luna.” I looked Alexander in the eye.

I believed it was love. I remember how happy I was at that time. I felt like a homeless child who was suddenly given a home. It became my reason to liveuntilMy gaze turned cold and sharp as I swept it toward Faye. you betrayed me.

Just as Alexander was about to speak, I pressed on while looking at him. I gave him everything. My loyalty, my time, my devotion, my trust, my strengtheverything he needed. If he told me to go east, I would. I was too blind back then, too trusting. I stood at his side when the Crescent Moon Pack faltered. I commanded his warriors, went to war for him, bled for him and his pack more times than I can count, nearly died for them over and over.

I let out a wry laugh. I did it as his Luna. But what did he do as my Alpha?

A murmur spread, gasps rippling through the hall.

My eyes met Alexander’s. I was a Luna in name, but that’s it. A Luna is meant to be protected, respected…. Yet I was neither.

One of the council members leaned forward. What do you mean?

I drew in a sharp breath. He neglected me. He took advantage of my love for him. While I was busy fighting for him, he was building a bond with another woman.

Gasps and disbelief swept the hall. Alexander’s smug face faltered.

That’s a lie,he snapped, his voice booming. I marked you to protect you, Scarlett. You were alone, homeless, surrounded by enemies. Everything I did was to shelter you from dangers you never even knew!

Shelter?I laughed in disbelief. Do you call it sheltering when you take another woman in front of your Luna and call her your Luna, Alexander?

You don’t understand! His hands curled into fists. I strayed, yes, but I never stopped loving you. I told youit was my wolf who wanted her!He stepped closer, his eyes blazing into mine. You are mine, Scarlett. No council, no decree, no word you speak can change what the Moon Goddess wrote into our blood!

My breath caught. For a moment, it was just the two of usthe man I once loved, the man who destroyed me piece by piece.

I didn’t know this man in front of me anymore.

You didn’t love me, Alexander. You just wanted to control me. You liked the idea of controlling me.”

A hush swept the chamber.

Then a voice rosehoarse but strong.

She speaks the truth.

I turned. It was someone from the Crescent Moon Packa warrior I knew from before.

Joran.

I watched him step forward, his arms scarred from the last border war I had led. His voice cracked. She led us when you didn’t. She fought beside us like a true warrior!

Alexander’s head snapped toward him, furious. Sit down!

But another voice rose. I can’t stay silent anymore! She is our Luna! She is the only Luna we recognize!

Then another. And another.

She saved my son from rogues-
