Gold Digger vs Gold Saver My Man's Double Life novel Chapter 29

**Marriage Without Temperature by Mark Twain**

**Chapter 6**

As the tumult in the conference room gradually subsided, the flickering screen dimmed to black, marking the abrupt end of the livestream.

Alexander, in a state of utter disarray, was nearly carried away by the men he had brought along, their faces reflecting a mix of concern and disbelief.

What remained in the wake of the chaos was a scene of utter devastation, both physical and emotional, as shockwaves rippled through the room.

I took a deep breath and asked Evelyn to spearhead the cleanup efforts, urging her to help soothe the rattled employees who were still reeling from the spectacle they had just witnessed.

It was imperative to restore the company morale that had been so violently shaken by this entire circus act.

Once I felt the situation was somewhat under control, I made my way back to my office on the top floor, the weight of the day pressing heavily on my shoulders. Just as I settled into my chair, the intercom buzzed to life, piercing the silence.

“Eleanor, it’s Evelyn,” she said, her tone laced with uncertainty. “Mr. Richard Montgomery has called over a dozen times. Should I…?”

“Put him through,” I replied, my voice steady despite the turmoil within.

With a click, I answered the call, and Mr. Montgomery’s voice erupted from the receiver, stripped bare of his usual calm business demeanor.

“Eleanor, please listen to me! This is all a misunderstanding!”

I remained silent, my fingers tapping rhythmically against the desk, each tap echoing my simmering frustration.

His voice grew more frantic, the panic palpable.

“Alexander got confused! He was misled by that Chloe woman. He’s young and foolish, just trying to prove himself… We had no inkling he was capable of this!”

“The Montgomery family absolutely supports you! Given our families’ intertwined histories, considering my long-standing relationship with your father…”

I interrupted him, my voice cutting through the air like a knife.

“The court summons is very real, Richard. The recordings are real, the chat logs are real. He attempted to extort 600 million from me, manipulating public opinion and fabricating evidence to force me out—does that also fall under the category of a misunderstanding?”

The line fell into a heavy silence, punctuated only by the sound of his labored breathing.

I continued, my tone unwavering.

“As for our history—while Alexander was orchestrating this entire scheme, while he was watching Sterling Corporation’s stock plummet and our employees panic during that livestream, did you reflect on our shared history then?”
