Gold Digger vs Gold Saver My Man's Double Life novel Chapter 30

**Marriage Without Temperature by Mark Twain**

**Chapter 7**

Mr. Montgomery stood frozen, his expression a mask of disbelief as the blood drained from his face, leaving him pale and shaken.

In a fit of rage, he stormed out of the grand Sterling Corporation headquarters, feeling as though the very ground beneath him had vanished, leaving him hollow and exposed.

All the pent-up fury and fear he had been suppressing for far too long finally burst forth like a dam breaking, flooding his thoughts with chaos and despair.

He hurried home, his mind racing, only to find Alexander pacing back and forth like a caged animal, anxiety etched deeply into his features.

“Look at what you’ve done!” he shouted, his voice trembling with the weight of his father’s disappointment.

The dignity of the family patriarch slipped away from Mr. Montgomery as he unleashed his fury, no longer able to maintain the facade of control.

“For that Chloe woman, ruining yourself wasn’t enough—you had to drag the entire Montgomery family down with you!”

Alexander’s complexion paled further under the onslaught of his father’s wrath. “Dad… you used to support me. You even said if we won—”

“Support you?” Mr. Montgomery barked, his voice rising like thunder as he jabbed a finger into Alexander’s chest. “You thought Eleanor would just keep bending to your whims because she loved you? That faking suicide and crying would make her surrender? Congratulations, kid—she’s playing for keeps now, and the Montgomery family is finished. Are you happy? How much is your precious love worth now?”

A shiver ran through Alexander as he turned to Chloe, desperation etched in his eyes, silently pleading for her to intervene.

But Chloe avoided his gaze, her voice barely above a whisper. “Uncle… don’t panic. The most important thing is to figure out how—”

“How? There’s nothing left to figure out!”

Mr. Montgomery’s fury shifted abruptly towards her, his voice a sharp blade cutting through the tension.

“If you hadn’t been manipulating Alexander, we wouldn’t be in this mess! Get out—get the hell out of my house!”

Chloe’s face drained of color, her lips pressed together in silence, paralyzed by the confrontation.

Alexander watched in horror as the unprecedented viciousness of his father collided with Chloe’s retreat, and he felt his heart plummet into an icy abyss.

They found themselves in a constant battle, hurling accusations at each other like weapons.

Alexander’s voice rose in anger, “This is all your fault! If you hadn’t thrown yourself at me like some homewrecker, maybe Eleanor would still care about me! Would I be in this mess?!”

Chloe, pushed to her breaking point, snapped back. “You’re the greedy one! You couldn’t let go of the Sterling family power but wanted to boost your ego with me. And now, when everything blows up, you blame me?”

Life showed them no mercy.

Evidence of Chloe’s past academic misconduct was submitted anonymously, solid proof that triggered a swift investigation. Her career was obliterated, and the specter of legal trouble loomed ominously over her.

In a fit of despair, Chloe locked herself in her room, her eyes swollen and red from tears. She screamed at Alexander, her voice filled with rage and desperation. “It’s her! It has to be Eleanor! She wants to destroy us completely!”

Alexander looked at the woman he once loved, now consumed by paranoia, and then glanced around their empty apartment, the silence deafening. All he felt was a deep, suffocating disgust—an endless pit of revulsion at the mess they had created.

Finally, clarity struck him like a lightning bolt: everything he had risked, everything he had gambled on, was nothing but a fragile illusion, ready to shatter at any moment.
