Chapter 1
I walked out of that courthouse, divorce papers in hand, my heating husband right there beside me. Then I said it.
“I’m pregnant.”
He froze. Just-stopped breathing. Stared at me like I’d destroyed him.
His voice broke. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“So you could trap me?” I stared back. “Not a chance.”
“Finn Cross, get this straight-”
“This baby’s mine. ONLY mine.”
My marriage to Finn Cross? Yeah, that was my sister’s leftovers.
Macy was the fun one. Bubbly, loud, totally spoiled.
She wasn’t about to let some arranged marriage lock her down for life.
So she grabbed a card with twenty million on it and bailed.)
Mom felt bad for her precious baby girl but couldn’t stand losing a son-in-law like Finn Cross.
So she shoved me forward instead.
Like any Montgomery daughter would work just fine.
But who the hell was Finn Cross?
Boston old money. The kind where his great-great-grandfather’s name is still on buildings downtown.
He was at the very top.
Macy ditching their engagement already made him look like an idiot.
And Mom thought he’d take ME?
Yeah, right.
But I went anyway. Pitched myself like a job interview.

Chapter 1
And somehow? He said yes.
This year was our fourth anniversary.
To everyone else, we were couple goals.
Behind closed doors? We were roommates who happened to sleep together sometimes.
Mom never shut up about me having a kid. Kept saying I was useless, that if I didn’t lock Finn down, he’d leave.
I wanted to tell her Finn wasn’t some dog I could leash.
Even if I wanted to, would he let me?
But I never said that.
Just nodded like always.
Mom hated when I did that. She’d roll her eyes and storm off
But here’s the crazy part-I actually got pregnant.
My period was late. One week. Two. Three. Maybe four.
Last night I grabbed a pregnancy test. Two lines.
Today I went to the clinic for bloodwork.
The doctor looked at my results. “Nine weeks. You keeping it or not?”
“Keeping it, I think?”
I wasn’t sure.
Finn didn’t know yet.
This baby wasn’t exactly planned.
I needed to ask him first.
So I took the report and headed straight to his office in Downtown Crossing.
When I got there, Finn was in a meeting. His assistant walke me to his office, poured coffee, brought out cookies, told me to wait.
I picked up the cup.

Chapter 1
Wait-can pregnant women drink coffee?
No clue.
Let me check.
Apparently yeah, a little’s fine.
Cool.
I took a sip. God, that was good.
Halfway through that breath, chaos exploded outside.
I pushed the door open and locked eyes with some woman being held back by security.
Her face was red, eyes wild. She shrieked, “Get Finn out here. He knocked me up and thinks he can just walk away?”
So many people watching.
God, I wanted to die.
Literally wanted the floor to swallow me whole.
Can everyone please know-this has NOTHING to do with me!
Thank God Finn showed up.
He cut through the crowd, face like stone, and spotted me pecking out.
His hand came up and covered my eyes.
I flinched back.
He moved his hand and shut the door.
I blinked.
Wait.
My husband cheated, knocked someone up, and now she’s here making a scene-and I don’t even get a say?
Turns out Finn decided I would get a say.
He cleared everyone out, whispered something to the woman, then opened the door and brought her right to me.
Watching him stay this calm? I genuinely wanted to clap.
