Chapter 3
The entryway was a disaster zone of random shoes scattered everywhere.
Our imported Italian leather couch was covered in cheap stuffed animals from arcade claw machines.
The main wall where our wedding photos should’ve been hanging had my face blocked by a dartboard.
My mouth twitched involuntarily. I wanted to laugh but couldn’t even manage a bitter smile.
What a big “surprise”.
The door swung open.
Jasper walked in supporting Madison.
Seeing me on the couch, they both froze.
Jasper rushed over with his excuses ready.
“Liv, Madison got evicted. I told her she could crash here temporarily.”
“I was gonna tell you, but it happened so fast, and the place was just sitting empty anyway. It’s nice having someone here…”
I held up my hand to stop him.
“Tell her to pack up and get out. Now.”
Jasper looked genuinely shocked, like he’d never seen me put my foot down before.
“You’re pissed? Just because I left you at the courthouse?”
So he did know that was messed up.
I took a deep breath and said it again:
“I’m selling the house. You both need to leave.”
Jasper’s face went white.
“You’re gonna dump our home over a stupid ring?”
Realizing he’d blown up, he switched to his sweet-talk voice.
“Look, if you don’t want the ring because someone else wore it, I’ll get you a better one right now. Come on, babe, don’t be like this.”
“Make her leave.”
Third time saying it.
“CRASH!”
Jasper suddenly exploded, sweeping all the stuffed animals off the couch onto the floor.

Chapter 3
“Madison, I said you could stay here, not turn my house into a damn circus!”
“Great, now you’ve pissed off Liv. Get the hell out!”
Madison started sobbing as she crawled around picking up the toys.
Her voice was shaking as she apologized to me.
“Liv, I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to cause trouble.”
I closed my eyes, refusing to say “it’s fine” like I always did.
Then she rolled her heavy suitcase right over my foot.
The pain was so sharp I almost cried.
I instinctively called out to Jasper as he was leaving.
“Wait-”
I was about to ask him to grab some pain relief gel, but he cut me off.
“Enough, Liv! Don’t be such a bitch. Whatever drama you’re having can wait until I get her settled.”
He slammed the door behind him.
It felt like ice water hitting me in the face, killing whatever feelings I had left.
No more hesitation. I called a realtor and set the price.
I also had Dad’s team start evaluating my stake in Stellar Industries.
Stellar was the company Jasper and I built from nothing.
For years, I’d funded it and worked my ass off, turning him into Manhattan’s hottest business mogul.
Now that we were splitting everything up, it was gonna be messy as hell.
I was swamped with work until my assistant called.
“Ms. Carter, don’t forget about tonight’s product launch.”
After hanging up, I saw dozens of missed calls from Jasper.
