Gold Digger vs Gold Saver My Man's Double Life novel Chapter 96

Chapter 3

That smirk wasn’t just for me. Sophie and her friends caught it too.

Sophie’s face twisted with rage. “That bitch! I knew she did it on purpose.”

“Miss Rivers, Sebastian’s marrying you next week and she’s still all over him. You’re not gonna-”

She stopped mid-sentence, probably remembering all the gossip about me being a total doormat.

I got back to the estate and barely made it through the door before Sebastian stormed in.

He grabbed my wrist and hauled me toward the exit. “Natalie’s in the hospital because of you. You’re apologizing.

Now.”

I ripped my hand away and looked him dead in the eye.

“I already told you-I didn’t push her. So why the hell should I apologize?”

“I trust what I saw with my own eyes. Gianna, don’t piss me off right now.”

Then he reached into his jacket and pulled out my father’s jade pendant. Dad’s final possession. The only thing I had

left of him.

When we got engaged, I’d given it to Sebastian as a symbol of forever.

My stomach dropped like I’d been shoved off a cliff.

“You’re seriously… using that against me?”

“Not against you. Just apologize and we’re good.”

A laugh burst out of me. Then tears.

I turned away fast, swiping at my face, swallowing the sob clawing up my throat. “Fine. I’ll do it. But the second I’m done, you give that back.”

Sebastian hesitated. His mouth opened, closed. Finally he nodded.

Natalie was tucked away in the Hawk family’s private hospital, huddled in the corner of her bed, sobbing quietly.

The moment she saw me, she actually flinched.

“I’m sorry.”

I looked at Sebastian.

He wrapped his arm around Natalie’s shoulders, voice flat and cold. “Get on your knees.”

I just stared at him. Something inside me shattered and wens completely numb.

I sank to my knees. Said it again. “I’m sorry.”

Natalie started to climb out of bed like she was going to help me up, but Sebastian pushed her back.

“She owes you this. Just rest up. Our wedding has to be perfect.”

He wasn’t even pretending anymore.

I got to my feet, snatched the jade pendant from his hand, and walked out.

He called after me. I didn’t turn around.

After that, we didn’t see each other until the wedding day.

We went through all the pre-ceremony stuff. Right before I got into the bridal car, he whispered, “No matter what happens, stay calm. I’ll come for you.”

I said nothing.

The car wound through the entire city. When we hit the river bridge, it suddenly stopped.

Maybe ten minutes passed. Then we started moving again.

I could feel it immediately-wrong route. We weren’t heading to the Hawk estate. We were going south. Toward

Hades’ place.

When the car rolled to a stop, my heart seized.

Hades was Old Man Hawk’s bastard. Never acknowledged, never claimed. Grew up in the worst part of town.

But he fought his way out with nothing but raw violence. Took over rival crews, made the entire underworld terrified of him. Earned himself the nickname “Hell’s Dealer”

I’d met him a handful of times. Cold. Untouchable.

The door opened. Hades looked at me-not even a flicker of surprise. Just a slight smirk. “There you are. Hungry?”

“You’re… not shocked it’s me?”

“You don’t look shocked either.”

Damn. I’d been too on edge to fake it.

Hades let out a low laugh. “Wanna go back? Run to Sebastian?”

I shook my head hard.

“Good. Then you’re mine now.”
