A part of me wanted to reject his request. The mother inside me was afraid that he’d use our kids to break my will because they were my biggest weakness. I could sacrifice my own life for them.

“Don’t worry, Tessa. I don’t mean to separate you from our kids. If I would have to do it, I wouldn’t wait for this long.” He spoke as if he read my mind.

I felt guilty of doubting his intentions because he was never wrong.

He only chose to trust wrong people.

“I never said that.” I looked away to hide my embarrassment.

“You don’t have to. Your eyes speak for your heart.” He said.

There was a moment of silence between us but there was an inner storm taking a violent shape inside me.

I loved him, I still did but there were many unresolved things between us.

“Please, don’t push me away this time. You want to hold grudges, do it but don’t let us fall apart like this. Think about our kids. He begged me.

Was I really cruel to keep him apart from his children?

I knew the answer that’s why I never dared to face it.

“Lucas must have left for school. You can meet Lena but be careful because I never mentioned a father to her because she never really asked.” I told him.

Hurt flashed into those eyes.

“How would you feel if I had done the same?” He asked, his tone accusing.

“It was complicated. I felt with a kid who wasn’t even a year old. I nearly lost her so keeping her away from her past was the best thing I could think of.” I told him what I thought at that time.

“Although, I don’t agree with you and I am not willing to forgive you for keeping my kids away from me, yet I can’t hate you, Tessa. I tried to hate you many times but I failed because the love I feel for you is way stronger than my resentment.

I was left stunned. The wheels in my mind running in all direction to process his words.

Did he just confess that he loved me?

“I know it’s too late to say this, Tessa but I love you. I have loved you all the time since we got married and build a family together. Your presence itself completed my world. Raelynn was replaced by you a very long time ago, it just took me time to realize this.”

His lips wore a satisfactory smile as he expressed his feelings.

I was only listening to each word he said.

His honesty reflected on his face, in his tone and in those beautiful eyes.

But our beautiful moment was interrupted by the someone.

“Tessa, oh my God! Is that really you?” Felix’s eyes widened when he looked at withom barting an eyelash.

I created some distance between us and straightened my posture.

“Hello, Felix.” I greeted him with an awkward smile.

“I think I am gonna need another drink.” He said rubbing his forehead and looked between us.

“Felix, I am going to Tessa’s house. Please, pass my sincere apologies to Amanda and your grandmother. This is more important.” Logan said to his cousin.

“Amanda was the one who told me that her designer was none other than my sister-in-law. I just came here to see with my own eyes.” He still looked puzzled.

“Please, do it for me. I’ll be back by the evening.” Logan said to him.

‘Alright. Please, talk about it thoroughly, guys. I am rooting for you.” He showed his thumbs up and left.

There was an awkward silence between us.

“Can I come with you?” He asked.

“I don’t bring my car. My neighbour dropped me here.” I told him.

His face twitched on the mention of Eliot. I knew what could be reeling in his mind.

“There’s nothing complicated between us.” I stated.

“Come to my house. I hope Lena won’t be overwhelmed to see you.” I said and his eyes snapped up.

“I don’t like him because he looks clearly smitten by you.” H

said in an icy cold tone but it was directed towards Eliot.

I felt a knot in my stomach. I couldn’t

I could see sparkle in them.

t process what was happening in my life. The events took place one after another. It didn’t

give me a chance to wrap my mind around everything that had happened.

My thoughts came to an abrupt halt when he honked the car and signalled me to hop inside.

It was finally happening.

Lena and Lucas were about to meet their father after four years. I was both nervous and afraid of their reaction. I didn’t want them to reject their father due to long absence.
