“I haven’t met Raelynn even for once after her father’s trial. I cut all my ties with her. I don’t know and I don’t bother what she does for a living or where she lives in present.” I answered Kelly’s question very calmly.

“Did you tell this to Tessa?” She asked, I could see the happiness in her eyes.

“She didn’t ask.” I shook my head, “I am afraid if I mention Raelynn or our past, it might trigger Tessa’s anger even more so I stayed quiet about it.” I told Kelly because she was a mature lady and she could advise me rightly.

“Sir, I think you should clarify everything to her. Lack of communication had led you both on this turn. She’ll eventually forgive you because she still loves you more than anything. You just need to take the first step.” She smiled.

“I am afraid of her rejection.” I confessed.

It was the rarest side of me when I let my guards down and show my weakness but Kelly could see through me even if I’d not speak about it.

“Logan, I think he’s ready to talk but please be patient with him.” Tessa’s voice caused our conversation to come to a halt.

I turned around and found Tessa standing at a meter’s distance. It wasn’t clear whether she heard our conversation or she just walked out.

“Will you be there? I don’t think it’s going to be easy for me.” I requested her but she shook her head negatively.

“No, I think you should go alone. You both need this time. There are certain things that Lucas might not express in my presence.” She said with a good reason.

I nodded my head and walked past her to go inside. Lucas was sitting on the sofa with Lena’s soft toy. His head was lowered so I couldn’t guess his expressions. I exhaled deeply and prepared myself to have a heart to heart conversation with my son.

“How are you, Luke?” I didn’t know how to start a conversation properly.

“I am good.” His reply was brief.

I sat beside him but there was still a gap between us because I didn’t want to make him uncomfortable. He was still a kid.

“I missed you so much and I am happy to see you as a big boy.” I said with a smile.

“If you have missed us so much then why did you choose to believe bad people. I saw how Mom was crying and asking you to believe her but you trusted facts over her.” He finally looked at me and all I could see was hurt and questions in his identical eyes.

“I regretted it in every single second I was away from you all. I mean it and I am ready to do anything to earn your forgiveness. All I want is a last chance. Please, come back home.” My voice was low.

“It’s Mom’s decision and I will do what she decides.” He said looking away but he wasn’t cold this time.

“I will make sure that they won’t bother your Mom. I promise.” I said.

“It doesn’t work like this, Dad. You can’t ignore the root cause forever and cutting ties with them is also impossible and unfair. It will make you a villain for them and their despise for Mom will only intensify.” He said like a mature man.

I couldn’t win against my son because he always beat me with logics.

“I am not asking you to forgive me right now. You can take your time, Lucas. I only want you to know one thing that Dad loves you so much.” I said placing my hand on his shoulder carefully but when he didn’t reject me, I caressed his head.

“When are you going back home?” He asked after several moments of silence.

“I am staying here as long as it takes me to win you all back.”

He looked at me for a second and what he did next, I wasn’t expecting.

He hugged me and my arms instinctively wrapped around him.
