Goodbye, Mr. Ex-Husband, I Won't Come Back novel Chapter 161

PART-161

Tessa

My mood turned sour after listening to the words of Amanda’s aunt

What if they’d really succeed in their plans if i don’t reconcile with Loope?

I shook my head and gulped down the bitter liquid in my glass. I didn’t want her words to play with my mental peace. I trusted Logan and I knew he’d not fall into their trap

He loved his children and perhaps me as well.

“What are you doing here, Mrs. Wilferd? Amanda was looking for you when she didn’t find you with the ladies.”

I exhaled deeply when Ashley’s voice reached into my ears. I had to act my best so she’d not see how her presence made me uncomfortable.

“I had to attend an important call.” I lied and about to walk past her but her next words forced me to halt in my track.

“I know what my aunt said to you earlier and I am really sorry because it put you in an uncomfortable position.”

I tilted my head to glance at her.

“I don’t care what they say. I know my husband and we’re mature enough to ignore such gossips.”! pressed a tight smile.

“Exactly, they are only baseless assumptions. I’d not lie. Mrs. Lilia Wilferd proposed this idea to my parents but they refused and I am also not interested in marrying just anyone for the sake of money and status. I am an independent woman. Seducing a married man with kids isn’t me.”

She was very vocal and confident as she tried to clear the misunderstanding caused by her aunt

“I appreciate your understanding, Ms. Steller. Please, excuse me now. Logan must be looking for me.”! said and made my way to the dining table.

“I really admire you as a person. We can actually be friends.” She walked beside me.

I mentally rolled my eyes. As long as she tried to stay close to my husband, we couldn’t be friends.

“Tess, where have you been?” Logan, who saw me walking towards him, stood up from his chair and dragged the chair on his left side for me.

“Thank you. I went to take a call.” I lied to him as well

The dinner started. The air was light since nobody dared to bring displeasing subjects on the table under the presence of the senior lady who thanked everyone to make her birthday memorable and she wanted to see the family and friends often.

Logan was very attentive towards me. He talked about our marriage, kids and everything openly. The environment was light except for the woman who ruined my mood earlier. She was giving me displeasing glances.

“Forgive me in advance, Logan but mind if I ask you both a question?” The very same woman said and caught everyone’s attention on her.

My heart sank.

“Sure, Daisy.” Logan nodded his head.

“Since you met your wife. We all know why she left. Have you both decided to get back together or considering a divorce?”

I clutched the fabric of my dress under the table.

“Daisy, behave. Don’t forget that they are my guest.” Mrs. Finch glared her daughter.

“Daisy, I don’t know from where you get this idea but you have raised it so I must answer you. I hope this message will also be delivered to my mother.” Logan spoke, his voice firm.

“Logan…please.” I begged him through eyes to let it go because I didn’t want to ruin their dinner

“I love my wife more than anyone in this world and no power except death can separate us. So, if your match making is in motion, please, drop it and also give my kind message to my mother.”

I was stunned to hear his declaration.

Did he say that he loved me?

“Daisy, you got your answer. Now eat your food nicely or leave.” Mrs. Finch reprimanded her daughter

Daisy’s face turned red in embarrassment but she herself brought it upon herself. Fuming, she left the

table.

“Everyone, let’s continue. The food is made by my chefs with hours of hard work and I don’t want it to go in waste for some people’s foolishness.” The old woman sipped her wine and the dinner continued.

But I could barely focus on anything. Logan openly confessed his love for me.

“We have reached home.”

Logan’s voice pulled me out of my deep reverie and I looked out of the window. He parked the car outside my house.

“Thank you for the ride.” I said and stepped out.

He also came out and rounded his way towards me.

“I am sorry for what you had to face earlier.” He looked guilty when it wasn’t his fault.

“Don’t apologize. She isn’t the first or last person with such cheap mentality. I stopped caring for such

“ken 1 too late to confess my feelings, Tess? He asked in an amused tone.

“Yes, you me but I am still happy. I can’t believe my ears.” I said looking up at him

His eyes reflected the same. There was no doubt in the genuineness of his words.

“kwe jou, tessa. I love my wife. Maybe I have loved you for a very long time. It just, i have realised it When you left me for the first time.” He said.

“Sam, it took you four years to say these words?” I smacked his chest.

We were standing in the middle of a road, confessing our feelings it felt so simple and natural “W’s okay. Our present matters.” I smiled and rested my hands on his chest to feel his heartbeats. He was finally mine, on papers, physically and emotionally.

“May I kiss my wife now?” He stared at my lips. “It feels like our second wedding
