Goodbye, Mr. Ex-Husband, I Won't Come Back novel Chapter 172

Third Person’s Pov.

Lucas found it hard to concentrate on the book he was reading. How could he share those emails he had been receiving from his birth mother with his parents.

It had been a month since he saw his birth mother, Raelynn Cowper in Vienna when he was playing with his friends in the park. She approached him with tears in her eyes. He wanted to run away from her and tell his mother but she begged him that she’d not hurt him or his family.

She only wanted to see him. She was feeling guilty to hurt him and his family but she also explained why she had to lie to his father.

She was trapped with a dangerous man who could hurt Lucas and it forced her to act opposite.

Lucas kept pushing her away but she only appeared at the park, outside his school. She only waved and smiled at him.

He felt conflicted because she cried on her knees.

A part of him wanted to believe her but he couldn’t deny the fact that she had hurt his mother for years.

He again read the email that he received from her in the evening. She said she was leaving the country forever and would not come back again and she wanted to see him for one last time.

He flipped positions on his bed. His parents were concerned about him but he couldn’t tell them because Raelynn never for once tried to hurt him.

He contemplated, his fingers were typing and deleting the response.

Maybe she was telling the truth. His father taught her a good lesson and she was left with nothing.

He sat up straight, took a deep breath and typed his answer.

“Okay, I will meet you but this is the last time or I will tell my parents.”

And he sent the mail. Her response came within seconds as if she had been waiting for his response all this time.

“Thank you, Lucas. I promise this is the last time I want to see you and then I will leave peacefully. Come to the central mall tomorrow at eleven. I will see you at the third floor in the corridor beside the closed stores.”

He read the response and laid down again.

“I am sorry, Mom, Dad but I have to meet her because I don’t want her to reach you and Lena.” He whispered before closing his eyes.

The next day, as usual his parents were happy and were in their own world. He was very happy to see them together. Lena like always clung to his side, asking him to help slice her bread and eat of her fruits.

“Luke, we have visited the school we think is best for you but we enlisted three. You can visit them yourself and decide which one you like.” Logan said to him.

“Do we have to visit them today?” He asked him anxiously because he had promised Raelynn Cowper to meet her.

“No, today I have a very important meeting and your mom has to visit her new stores. We’re doing it tomorrow. I am excited because both you and Lena will be going to the same school.” He replied.

Lucas felt even more guilty seeing how excited his parents were for his new beginning. He heard his father talking over phone about his soccer practice. He wanted Lucas to enrolled in best training academy.

His mother asked him smallest things. Her love made him even more conflicted why he was silent about the woman who once destroyed their happiness.

“Dad, Mom, I need some accessories. Can I go to the mall today?” He asked his parents.

“Sure, you can take your driver and Kelly with you but you have to promise that you will be with your bodyguards all the time.” Logan gave his permission without bothering.

“Thanks, Dad. I promise I will be within my security circle. I will leave at ten.” Lucas said.

“Lucas, tonight, we four are going to have dinner outside, I and your Mom have a surprise for you and Lena.” Logan said glancing over Tessa.

They shared a loving look.

“I am excited.” Lucas gave a thumbs up.

“My mom is a very good person then why did you always bully her?” Lucas asked her.

“I was immature and fool. My parents used to tell me that Tessa is bad. It was their fault and I made terrible mistakes.” She said.

“Still not an excuse to defend your bad doings, Ms. Cowper. I hope you will choose a good path now.” He said.

“I will miss you so much, Lucas. You are my only child and I love you the most whether you believe it or not. I wish you will be successful and find all your happiness and one day, if fate brings us together again, I would hear the word ‘Mom’ from you.” She said in a cracked tone.

Something stirred inside Lucas but he was afraid to name it.

“Goodbye, Ms. Cowper. My guards are waiting outside and I can’t keep lying to my parents.” Lucas said and turned to leave.

“Would you accept a gift from me? I wanted to give it to you when you were born but I never had the chance.” She spike and he again faced her.

She fished out a gold coin with beautiful engraving of Lucas and Raelynn’s names on either sides with their portraits.

“I ordered this customized coin to memorise us as two souls but one by heart. This is yours. Please, take it. If you want, you can throw it later but at least accept it for once.”

Raelynn’s eyes looked at her son with hope.

He slowly picked it from her palm.

“Thank you. God bless you, my son.” She caressed his head.

"Goodbye, Ms. Cowper." Lucas said in a low but composed voice. He didn't want her to see his complexed emotions.

With an uneasy feeling inside his heart, he thrusted the coin in his pocket and walked out before his bodyguards could catch her.
