Tessa
“Happy birthday, my little sunshine.”
“Happy birthday, princess.”
Both I and Logan kissed our daughter’s hairs as we woke her up. She yawned and then gave us her priceless smile.
“Thank you, Mamma, Daddy.” She sat up and crawled on my lap first which surprised me because ever since Logan came back into our lives, she had been her Daddy’s princess.
“Mamma, where is my gift?” She asked burying her face on my chest and I affectionately stroked my daughter’s hairs.
“You will receive your gift at evening. Be patient, sunshine.” I kissed her cheeks and tickled her.
“Mamma, stop.” She laughed and rolled to her father’s lap.
“Have you prepared the gifts for your new friends as well?” Logan asked her.
In less than a week’s time, she became very popular in her kindergarten and everybody adored her.
“Yes, Daddy. I and Mamma wrapped all the gifts last night.” She told him.
She still looked sleepy.
“Come on, Lenny. Let me give you a bath. Remember, we have to go to church to day to pray.” I reminded her.
She was always whiny in morning.
“Okay, Mamma. It’s my birthday.” She agreed and got off her father’s lap.
“Go and brush your teeth first.” I told her and she obediently went to the bathroom.
“She didn’t throw any tantrums. It’s strange.’ Logan exclaimed.
“We have decided to visit the orphanage today to share our happiness with underprivileged kids. Sorry, we planned it last night when you were fast asleep.” I told him.
“It’s a great idea, Tess. I am proud of you that you are teaching them good morals.” He said pulling me in a hug.
“I want them to become the best version of themselves, Logan.”
Later in the morning, we visited the church to pray and to seek blessings and then we went to orphanage to distribute clothes, snacks and fruits to the orphan kids. Both our kids enjoyed playing with them.
“Lucas, Lena.” I tried to gain my kids’ attention and their heads turned to me.
“Yes, Mom.”
“Yes, Mamma.”
They said in unison.
“What lesson did you receive today after meeting those amazing kids?” I asked them.
Lucas was older and mature.
“They don’t have what we have so we should try to share it with them.” Lena was first one to response and I was proud of her.
She was only four and yet she learned a good lesson according to her age after our visit.
“Very good, princess and you, Luke?” Logan asked Lucas.
“We should spend money with care. Not because it’s earned with hard work but also that it could buy someone their basic needs and support their lives. A few bucks could bring a smile on someone’s face that we spend on cokes and snacks.” Lucas answered.
My heart swelled. He was my precious boy.
Lena curiously peeked into it and a loud squeal left her mouth when she saw the small fur baby inside the basket.
“A puppy? Daddy, you brought me a puppy.” Lena picked the small golden retriever puppy that Logan had bought for her as a birthday present.
She loved dogs and we had observed how much happy she was when she played with our neighbour’s dog.
“Yes, she is yours. You can name her.” Logan knelt down and kissed his daughter’s forehead who hugged her father tightly.
“Daddy, you are the best Daddy in the world.” She hugged him tightly.
“Lena, time for my gift.” I said.
She turned her attention to me.
“Do you have another puppy for me? I want a bunny because I love them.” Lena grinned.
“No more animals. We want you to take care of this puppy. I have another gift for you. Let me bring it from the house.” I said and exchanging a look with Logan before heading inside the house.
It was empty since everyone was out to celebrate Lena’s birthday. I called the guards as well during cake cutting.
I went to my spare room where I kept Lena’s birthday present. Well, it was the gold chain with a dolphin shaped pendant that my mother gave me on my last birthday after that I lost my parents. It was my most cherished memoir and I wanted to pass it down to my daughter since I had a strong feeling that she’d be my only daughter.
Funny but I felt like I would give birth to a boy.
As I was taking the small square box out of my cupboard, someone hit me hard on the head. I felt dizzy as sharp pain shot and warm liquid streamed on my face. I touched it and horror filled me.
It was blood.
My legs wobbled and I fell on the floor but before closing my eyes, I saw the face of the person who just hit me.
It was Raelynn.
