Chapter 179 A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing

Grayson frowned. “I don’t want to see them.”

Finn said, “I’ll go get rid of them.”

So Payne and Vivian had been kicked out of VirtuFusion Group. Now they were sitting on the lawn, staring up at the towering office building, looking clearly annoyed.

Vivian said, “What are we supposed to do? Grayson won’t even see us. How are we supposed to get any money from him?”

Payne grumbled, “Seriously, he’s got money to burn. Why can’t he spare a little for us? Rich people are so stingy!”

Vivian said, “Camille’s locked up in that mental hospital. Let’s go see her first. She’s always scheming. Maybe she’ll come up with something. We need to make Grayson let Camille out, and cough up a hefty sum as compensation.”

Payne said, “Let’s do that.”

They stood up, brushed themselves off, and headed straight for the mental hospital.

Finn walked into the office to report, “Mr. Pierce, Camille’s parents have left.”

Grayson nodded, letting Finn know he got it.

“Go out and get ready for the meeting,” Grayson said.

Eloise was trimming flowers in the sunroom when her phone rang. It was Juliette.

“Hey, Eloise, having fun at home?” Juliette asked.

“Forget that, I just sent you a video. Take a look,” Juliette said.

With that, Juliette hung up.

Eloise’s phone dinged. A link appeared on her screen.

She tapped it open.

The video showed an old couple protesting outside the VirtuFusion Group building, holding up a big banner.

They ignored the security guards trying to chase them off and started shouting accusations at the top of their lungs.

The man called out, “Hey, everyone, we’re Camille Hopkins’ parents! Three years ago, our daughter saved Grayson, the boss of VirtuFusion Group, but instead of being grateful, he locked her up in a mental hospital and is putting her through hell!”

The woman cried, “We just want to talk to Grayson and get an explanation, but they won’t let us see him. Our poor daughter is suffering so much!”

The man pleaded, “We heard people online are kind and always willing to help. Please, help us!”

“Exactly, please help us!” the woman chimed in.

Eloise scrolled through the comments. There were already over 3 thousand, and almost all of them were bashing Grayson.

Eloise was both angry and amused as she scrolled through the comments.

‘Are these people idiots?’ Eloise thought.

She tried calling Grayson, but his line was busy.

Thinking Grayson was probably busy with something, Eloise decided not to try again and just let it go for now.

Finn stood in front of Grayson’s desk, watching his boss’s stormy expression. “Should I get someone to take the trending topic down and ban Camille’s parents’ accounts?” he asked.

Grayson slammed his phone down on the desk. “No need. That’ll just make it look like I’m scared.”

“But…” Finn hesitated.

“Leave the online mess alone. Go investigate something for me,” Grayson said.

After Finn left, Grayson called Eloise back.

“Don’t stress about the online stuff. I’ll handle it. Just do your thing.

“And for the next few days, stay home, and keep Noah out of preschool,” Grayson said.

Eloise looked worried. “Is it really that serious?”

Grayson reassured her, “It’s no big deal for me. I’ll sort it out fast.”

Eloise knew he was just saying that to comfort her.

“Just be careful out there, and come home early if you can,” Eloise sald.

“Yeah, wait up for me,” Grayson replied.

After hanging up, Eloise checked her social media feed again.

Payne and Vivian had posted another video, and it was blowing up with likes.

Eloise knew Grayson could easily get the trending topic taken down and their accounts banned, but he chose not to.

With that in mind, Eloise felt a bit less anxious.

Eloise was cooking when she heard a car pull up outside. She immediately ran out to greet him.

Grayson had just stepped out of the car and saw Eloise waiting at the door.

She was wearing beige loungewear, gentle and beautiful, just standing there; she made him feel at peace.

That was exactly why he couldn’t wait to come home.

He had someone waiting for him at home.

Grayson closed the car door, strode up the steps, and swept Eloise into his arms, carrying her inside.

“Why’d you come out wearing so little?” he said.

Eloise wrapped her arms around his neck. “It’s not that cold, really.”

“Put me down, I’ve got something cooking on the stove,” she said.
