Chapter 445 The Paternity Proof

Hearing the word “child“, Arthur lowered his gaze to Jennifer’s slightly rounded abdomen. His hand rested gently upon it.
In that moment, it was as if his heart turned toward the unborn life.
This was his child, and from now on, his responsibility.
Arthur knew that the person he must dedicate himself to protecting was Jennifer.
Arvin, I’ll arrange my schedule at the company tonight. I’ll accompany you tomorrow morning,” Arthur Mated with quiet resolve.
“Arthur, you’re so good to me, Jennifer said softly, reaching out to embrace him.
“Daddy Arthur, I want to go too, Jenarth chimed in from the side, his voice deliberately sweet.
“Yes, of course, Arthur agreed simply.
“Daddy Arthur is the best! I’m so happy! Jenarth exclaimed, wrapping his arms around Arthur’s leg.
“Mr. Myers, the car is ready, Donald announced.
Arthur turned and saw Donald waiting. He gently disentangled himself from Jennifer’s hold. “Jennifer, please take Jenarth back to the house first. There are still matters to settle here at the estate. I’ll be working. late tonight”
“Arthur, I could st~*
“You and the baby are what matter most. Go home and rest. It’s been a long day. I’m tired, and there is a great deal to shoulder and resolve. Don’t worry. I’ll come to the house tomorrow morning to pick you and Jenarth up for the appointment, Arthur interjected, his tone leaving no room for argument.
Jennifer had wanted to insist on staying. After all, Arthur was still the operational head of the family.
So what if Chloe had the shares? She remained an outsider.
The family elders and Myers Group executives would never place their full trust in her.
A woman with no blood tie to the Myers name held no real standing.
Outwardly composed, Jennifer understood perfectly that Charles‘ decision to bequeath the bulk of the estate to Chloe was a deeply unpopular move.
Charles was still alive, but he was clinging to life by a thread. Once he was gone, if they could unite the dissenting voices and force Chloe out of Myers Group, she wouldn’t be able to withstand the collective pressure of the family.
Besides, Charles hadn’t revoked Arthur’s authority to run the group, had he? This distribution was likely just
reaction to Madilyn’s treachery.
Madilyn had been an astonishingly foolish woman. She couldn’t even finish off a bedridden old man.

A liability from the start. Now that she had outlived her purpose, she needed to be permanently silenced.
“Arthur, don’t push yourself too hard. Jenarth and I will be waiting for you,” Jennifer said, offering no further protest. She took Jenarth’s hand and followed Donald out.
Arthur stood watching their retreating figures until they vanished from view. Only then did he murmur to the empty air, “Jennifer, was I blind and foolish to choose you?”
No answer came. He was alone. Only the intermittent chirp of crickets broke the silence beneath the vast night sky.
That evening, Myers Estate remained abuzz for hours. The somber trappings of mourning were swiftly dismantled, the space restored to its former state as if the funeral had never occurred and Charles had always been well. Yet, simultaneously, it felt as if nothing could ever truly return to how it was before.
Myers Estate felt strangely hollow, touched by a new desolation.
Footage from the Myers family service played across a large digital screen.
As Charles made his appearance, Vincent, who had been enjoying the spectacle, allowed a smile to curl his lips.
“Well, well. Back from the dead. How intriguing!”
A man meant to be deceased had been snatched back from the brink. His dear Clo–Clo, she certainly had skill.
The operation had been executed quite flawlessly. In his estimation, it was acceptable. If he had to pinpoint an imperfection, it was perhaps the excessive time spent on preparation.
If you wanted someone dealt with, you simply eliminated them. Why waste so much effort on staging and ceremony?
When Madilyn, on screen, accused Chloe of being intimately involved with that man, Vincent’s eyes darkened.
This man again. Eugene. He had appeared alongside Clo–Clo in the footage more than once now.
Who was he?
What was his true identity?
All Vincent knew was the name “Eugene” and that he was in business. Beyond that, nothing.
He craved more information, but his subordinates had hit a wall. They could uncover little except that he was an investor with stakes in several enterprises.
