Eugene’s voice stayed calm. “I can say it as many times as you want. My mind’s made up about her. No matter what happens, she’s the one. I’ll always have her back. If the sky falls, I’ll stand in front of her. So what if there’s a kid? I’ll raise him like my own.”

“Listen to him. Just listen.” Hogan reached for the cup again.

“Hogan, don’t!” Rhea moved to stop him.

Hogan glanced at the cup and put it down again.

“Dad, enough with the theatrics. Chloe’s in a tough spot right now. With this scandal breaking, every stubborn old board member in the Myers family is going to use it against her. The people behind this will have the perfect excuse to come after her. This is my chance to prove myself. You know how I feel about her–I love her. More than anything. The kind of love where I can’t breathe without her.”
