Vincent laughed softly. “My Clo-Clo, you’re so cute when you’re angry. I’m starting to like you more and more.” His smile faded, replaced by something serious. “Clo-Clo. Chloe. I really hope that soon, Jennifer sends back a video of her with that man.”

Chloe slammed her hand against the table. Everything on it crashed to the floor with a deafening noise.

Bodyguards and servants rushed in immediately.

“Master!”

They saw the blood on Vincent. Guns came out instantly, all aimed at Chloe.

“Get out!” Vincent’s voice thundered through the room. The bodyguards flinched, immediately lowering their weapons. None of them dared to make a sound as they backed away quickly. But the blood-they’d seen it-so they lingered by the door, watching Chloe nervously.

“The bet’s on.” Vincent’s voice was calm again. “Now we wait for the result. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy our little trip.” He turned to leave, then paused. His white clothes were mostly stained red now, blood seeping through the fabric. Still, he walked out gracefully, like nothing

was wrong.

The bodyguards and servants watched him go, then glanced secretly toward Chloe.

None of them knew her. They’d only been with Vincent for about a year-they had no idea she existed.

But they’d heard rumors. Whispers about someone called “Clo”. The strongest operative Silverash had ever seen. Second only to their master.

Now that they were seeing her in person, none of them dared to speak or ask questions. They just registered one thing: this woman was ice-cold, and definitely not someone to mess with. And if their master cared about her this much? They weren’t about to say a single word.

The master was bleeding. Only he and this woman knew how it happened.

“Master, I’ll get the first aid kit. And call the doctor.” One bodyguard turned and hurried off.

Vincent ignored him. He glanced at a servant instead, his voice flat. “Clean up the mess. Replace the carpet. Prepare dinner. I want a candlelit dinner.”

The servant nodded and crept into the room.

Vincent looked back at Chloe one more time, then slowly turned and left.

Chloe watched him go. When the servant came in and started cleaning quietly, she ignored them completely.

She got up and walked back to her room-that small servant’s quarters she’d used earlier.

The servant worked silently outside, barely making a sound, afraid of disturbing her.

Chloe pulled a chair over by the bed and sat down, staring out the window. There was nothing to see but endless ocean stretching to the horizon. Night was coming.

By now, Eugene would have dinner ready. She’d broken her promise again.

That meal was never going to happen, was it?

She’d let him down again. Again.

I’m sorry, Eugene. So sorry.

She’d thought that even if the whole world turned against her, it wouldn’t matter. But she was wrong. She was going to hurt him after all.

Jennifer was out there now, wearing her face, heading toward Eugene and everyone she loved.

The secrets she’d kept-no one knew them. Even Robert only had pieces. He knew someone had been after her before, but not who. Not really.

And now, no one knew where she was.

Had Eugene already met her? Met Jennifer, wearing her face?

Jennifer’s disguise was good. She’d even changed her voice.

If they didn’t look closely, they might not notice.

But Chloe believed Eugene would. Her people would. They’d notice something off.

Because no matter how good the disguise, Jennifer didn’t know their secrets. She’d slip eventually.

Eugene. When another woman who looks exactly like me stands in front of you… what will you do?

You’ll notice, right?

They looked so alike. Chloe’s certainty wavered. Was Eugene really that sharp? They’d only had one night together. Did that count for enough? Did they trust each other that much?

She didn’t know if she’d win this bet. She only knew one thing for sure: Eugene was the only person she cared about now.

Vincent wouldn’t touch Robert. His target was Eugene.

She couldn’t be there to protect him. This was the only way she could.

Sorry. She was going to be cruel on purpose.

Eugene… I told you I wasn’t worth loving.

Eugene had gone all out. Dinner was incredible-spread out like a feast. Hogan and Rhea had gotten dressed up, nice clothes, the works. Eugene had been calling them nonstop, sounding like he was in a hurry.
